Lourdes Ready for Rematch with Siena Heights in CCLA Semis

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: The semifinals and championship of the CCLA tournament head to Pittsburgh, Pa. this weekend, with Lourdes battling Siena Heights on Friday morning, looking to avenge an overtime loss to the Saints back on April 1.  Should the Gray Wolves win on Friday, they would face Dayton or Grand Valley State in Saturday's title contest.

Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his third season on the Lourdes bench, Patrick Yannarelli has a 28-12 (.700) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Siena Heights holds a 3-1 series edge over Lourdes dating back to March 2, 2014.  The Saints have won the last three meetings, including a 9-8 victory in overtime on April 1 of this season.  Dayton is 3-0 all-time against Lourdes dating back to April 9, 2014.  The Flyers won this season's regular season meeting 15-9 on March 9 in Dayton.  Grand Valley State is 1-0 all-time against Lourdes, defeating the Gray Wolves 19-5 on April 26, 2014 in the quarterfinals of the CCLA tournament in Allendale, Mich.
 
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes overcame a one goal deficit after three quarters to defeat Indiana Tech 18-16 on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the CCLA tournament.  Jared Yoshino scored seven times while Danny Bichsel added four goals and four assists for the Gray Wolves.  Conner Mishler made 15 saves in goal.

Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints defeated Lawrence Tech 18-15 on Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the CCLA tournament.  Spencer Macek leads Siena Heights with 42 total points, scoring 25 goals and adding a team-high 17 assists, while Danny Orr has 41 points, including a team-leading 27 goals.  Tyler Hooper has played every minute in goal, sporting an 8.49 goals against average and a .545 save percentage.

Scouting Dayton: Dayton enters the tournament having won three straight games after downing Aquinas 9-4 in the CCLA quarterfinals.  Michael Glaser has tallied a team-high 35 points, with 19 goals and a team-leading 16 assists, while Sam White has 20 goals to pace the Flyers.  Ross Sattler has played a majority of the minutes in goal this season, sporting a 6.36 goals against average and a .572 save percentage.

Scouting Grand Valley State: The Lakers have won two straight games after downing Grove City 12-7 in the CCLA quarterfinals.  Erick Sundstrom has scored a team-high 33 goals this season while Jake Parry leads Grand Valley State with 48 points, including a team-high 32 assists.  In goal, Kyrn Stoddard sports an 8.40 goals against average and a .546 save percentage in 2016.

NAIA Invite Up Next: Lourdes has earned an at-large bid to the NAIA National Invitational which will be held in Greenville, S.C. May 5-7. The Gray Wolves, the tournament's fourth seed, will face fifth-seeded Missouri Baptist on May 5 at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

In the Rankings: Lourdes is a member of both the NAIA and MCLA in men's lacrosse.  The Gray Wolves are ranked fourth nationally in NAIA, where they are members of the WHAC.  In addition, they rank 11th in MCLA Division II as members of the CCLA.

This and That: Dalton Vowles and Danny Bichsel have broken the previous single season goals record at Lourdes with 62 and 61 respectively this year ... Bichsel has 145 career goals and 204 career points ... Jared Yoshino has set a new single season assist mark with 46 and has 122 for his career ... Lourdes is 11-0 this season when leading at halftime ... the Gray Wolves have scored 18 or more goals in six of their last seven games ... the win against Indiana Tech was the first CCLA tournament victory in Lourdes program history.
