Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: The 2016 season winds down for Lourdes as the Gray Wolves embark on the penultimate week of the regular season with a pair of key Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference games. Lourdes will host Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday before visiting Aquinas on Saturday.
Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his third season on the Lourdes bench,
Patrick Yannarelli has a 24-12 (.667) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes holds a 2-0 series advantage over Michigan-Dearborn dating back to the initial meeting at Detroit Country Day on March 16, 2014, a 20-6 Gray Wolf victory. Lourdes downed the Wolverines last season 19-13 in Michigan-Dearborn's home contest. Lourdes and Aquinas are 1-1 all-time. The Gray Wolves won the initial meeting 18-10 on March 29, 2014 in Grand Rapids, Mich. before the Saints notched a 15-13 win over Lourdes last season at Central Catholic High School.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes and 10th-ranked Siena Heights needed more than 60 minutes to decide last Friday evening's contest in Adrian, Mich. Danny Orr scored the game-winner with 39 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Saints a 9-8 triumph.Â

Scouting Michigan-Dearborn: The Wolverines have dropped four straight games after suffering a 15-14 double-overtime loss at home against Aquinas on March 26. Brendan Salva leads Michigan-Dearborn with 17 goal while Donald Roda has a team-high 20 points after tallying 12 goals and a team-high eight assists. David Stephanoff has played a majority of the time in goal for Michigan-Dearborn, sporting a 10.00 goals against average and a .485 save percentage.
Scouting Aquinas: The Saints are coming off of an 8-5 loss at Siena Heights on March 29, having had their last scheduled game at home against Lawrence Tech postponed due to inclement weather. Will Comai leads Aquinas with 19 points, having scored a team-high 13 goals while Sam Klinsky has handed out 10 assists. Aquinas has used three different goalkeepers, with Mack Baker playing a majority of the action, sporting a 7.20 goals against average and a .507 save percentage.
Overtime Lacrosse: Prior to this season the Gray Wolves had never gone to overtime, but are now 1-1 this year. Lourdes defeated Grove City 11-10 at home before falling at Siena Heights 9-8.
Vowles Earns MCLA Honor: Dalton Vowles was named the MCLA Division II Player of the Month after helping guide the Gray Wolves to an 8-1 record in March. The junior scored 35 goals and added 24 assists for 59 total points in the nine games, an average of 6.56 points per game. Vowles registered 83 total shot attempts, 55 of which were on goal, and collected 27 groundballs.
Yoshino Nearing 200 Points: Jared Yoshino enters the week just four points shy of 200 for his three-year career at Lourdes. Yoshino has 93 goals and 103 career assists for 196 total points.
In the Rankings: Lourdes is a member of both the NAIA and MCLA in men's lacrosse. The Gray Wolves are ranked fifth nationally in NAIA, where they are members of the WHAC. In addition, they rank 10th in MCLA Division II as members of the CCLA.
This and That: Danny Bichsel's next goal will be the 125th of his career ... Lourdes has outscored its opponents in every quarter this season, including a 97-44 advantage in the first half of games ...
