Lourdes (5-0, 0-0 WHAC)
Match #6: Saturday, September 24, 5 p.m. EDT
vs. #3 Davenport (5-1, 0-0 WHAC)
Wildcat Stadium - Sylvania, Ohio

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: After an undefeated non-conference schedule, Lourdes opens Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Saturday as the Gray Wolves entertain third-ranked Davenport.  The Gray Wolves finished in sixth place in the WHAC in 2015, sporting a 5-4-2 league mark.

Head Coach Barry Spitzer: In his second season on the Lourdes bench, Barry Spitzer has an 12-7-2 (.619) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as a men's soccer collegiate head coach at four year programs.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Davenport won the only previous match up between the two schools, 4-1, at Wildcat Stadium on Oct. 7, 2015.  The second-ranked Panthers scored twice in the first half and built a 4-0 lead before Jake Kirchoff-Sleet scored the lone goal for the Gray Wolves on a penalty kick with 10:27 to play.  Jose Cedillo made nine saves in net for Lourdes in the loss.

Wrapping Up Last Week: After falling behind less than six minutes into the match on Wednesday afternoon, Lourdes responded with 10 straight goals to defeat Cincinnati-Clermont 10-1 on the road.  Demaro Fowler tallied three goals while Isamnia Cohen added two goals and a helper in the victory.  The Gray Wolves fell behind in the first half again on Sunday afternoon at Cleary, but a pair of second half goals less than three minutes apart helped Lourdes earn a 2-1 road win.  Jake Kirchoff-Sleet had the equalizer before Kevin Omore added the match-winner.

Scouting Davenport: The Panthers enter the week having won four straight matches after defeating Spring Arbor 5-1 at home last Wednesday evening.  Davenport hosts Taylor on Wednesday night before visiting Lourdes on Saturday.  TJ Ifaturoti and Tyler Collishaw share the goal lead for the Panthers with three tallies each while amassing seven total points.  Jake Love holds the team's assist lead with four and has the overall scoring edge for the Panthers with eight total points.  In goal, Aaron Orban has played a majority of the minutes and sports a 1.08 goals against average along with a .783 save percentage.

Lourdes in WHAC Openers: Lourdes is looking for its first win ever in a conference opener on Saturday.  The Gray Wolves fell 2-0 at ninth-ranked Northwestern Ohio on Sept. 26, 2015 in the first WHAC match ever contested by the Gray Wolves.

Facing Ranked Foes: Lourdes is 0-2 all-time against teams ranked in the NAIA top-25 poll, with both opponents being ranked in the top-10 at the time the Gray Wolves faced them.  Lourdes dropped a 2-0 decision at Northwestern Ohio last year while falling 4-1 to second-ranked Davenport in the only prior nationally-ranked foe to visit Wildcat Stadium.

Playing From Behind: Lourdes had to play from behind for the first time this season last week, doing so in each match.  The Gray Wolves fell behind in the sixth minute against Cincinnati-Clermont before evening the match less than 11 minutes later.  Lourdes also trailed Cleary after allowing a goal late in the first half, but notched the equalizer shortly after the second half whistle had blown.

Among the NAIA Leaders: Lourdes leads all of NAIA as a team in numerous statistical categories.  The Gray Wolves have scored the most goals (51) and tallied the most assists (37) this season.  In addition, Lourdes leads the country in goals per match (10.2), assists per match (7.4), shots per match (37.8), and shots on goal per match (21.8).

Individual NAIA Leaders: A pair individuals rank among the best statistically in the NAIA as well this season.  Jake Kirchoff-Sleet is tops in the country in points per match (4.8), second in goals per match (1.8) and shots on goal per match (3.8), and fourth in total points (24) and total assists (6).  In addition, Kirchoff-Sleet is sixth in assists per match (1.2), total goals (9), and shots per match (5.6).  Ian Vidalon ranks fourth in NAIA in assists per match (1.2) and is seventh in total assists (5).

A National Record-Setting Effort: Lourdes set a new NAIA record with its 27 goals against Great Lakes Christian on Sept. 7.  The mark betters the 26 goals that Lindsey Wilson scored against Pikeville on Oct. 18, 2015.  In addition, the 20 assists the Gray Wolves handed out were tied for second most in NAIA history as well.  Only Texas Wesleyan (versus Dallas Christian) handed out more, recording 22 assists on Sept. 30, 2003.

Quite the Start: Lourdes has won five straight matches for the first time in program history.  The Gray Wolves had never won more than two straight matches entering this year, nor had they gone unbeaten in more than three consecutive contests.  In fact, men's soccer joins just men's lacrosse (2014, 10-0), men's volleyball (2014, 6-0), and women's volleyball (2015, 32-0) to start a season at least 5-0.

Sharing the Wealth: Lourdes has already scored a school-record 51 goals this season through five matches.  A total of 18 different players have found the back of the net, with 20 total players registering at least one point on the year via assists.

Team Captain: Jake Kirchoff-Sleet is the Gray Wolves' lone captain for the 2016 season.  The Lourdes senior is serving in the role for the second consecutive season.

This and That: Lourdes is outshooting its opponents 189-31 this season ... the 41 goals the Gray Wolves are more than the 36 they tallied the entire 2015 season ... Lourdes is 7-3 all-time in non-conference action after posting a 5-0 mark this year ... four different Gray Wolves have registered match-winning goals with only Judah Goodridge having two.
