Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: After picking up the first victory of the 2017 calendar year, Lourdes closes out a three-game homestand on Wednesday evening hosting Concordia (Mich.) at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center. The Gray Wolves will then take to the road on Saturday to begin a three-game road trip at nationally-ranked Indiana Tech.
Head Coach Summer Quesenberry: In her first season on the Lourdes bench
Summer Quesenberry has a 6-16 (.273) record. Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Quesenberry has a 59-84 (.413) record in her fifth season. She is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Concordia (Mich.) leads the all-time series against Lourdes 10-1 dating back to Oct. 27, 2011 and has won four straight meetings between the two schools. The Cardinals won the previous meeting this season 78-65 on Nov. 22 in Ann Arbor, Mich. Concordia went 4-1 against the Gray Wolves at Tam-o-Shanter. Indiana Tech leads the all-time series with Lourdes 10-1 dating back to Jan. 7, 2012, and has won seven straight meetings between the two teams. The Warriors posted a 90-61 victory at the Ebeid Rec Center earlier this season on Dec. 10. Indiana Tech holds a 4-1 series edge in games played in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Earlier This Season: Lourdes led by two at halftime on Nov. 22, but Concordia (Mich.) outscored the Gray Wolves by 15 points over the final 20 minutes to post a 78-65 win in Ann Arbor, Mich.Â
Molea Thompson led Lourdes with 20 points while
Jesse Fidler tallied a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kari Borowiak led five Cardinals in double figures with 17 points while Karlee Morris also had a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. On Dec. 10, Indiana Tech raced out to a 22-2 lead after the opening period on the way to a 90-61 victory over the Gray Wolves. Fidler led Lourdes with 13 points while Keanna Gary and Haley Cook each scored 22 points for the Warriors. Gary had a double-double, added 11 rebounds as well.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes fell behind Aquinas 57-32 at halftime as the Saints went on to defeat the Gray Wolves 84-58 at the Ebeid Rec Center on Wednesday.Â
Elayna Ackerman led Lourdes with 14 points while
Jesse Fidler and
Molea Thompson added 12 points each. The Gray Wolves shot just 25.3% from the floor in the loss. On Saturday Lourdes outrebounded Marygrove 59-26, including 25-4 on the offensive end, and defeated the Mustangs 77-57 at the Ebeid Rec Center.Â
Daja Whiteside had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds while Fidler added 13 points as four Gray Wolves finished in double figures on the afternoon.
Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals snapped a four-game losing skid on Saturday afternoon with a 72-61 victory at home against Northwestern Ohio. Kari Borowiak leads Concordia averaging 16.3 points per game while Mia Long and Brianna Rowe are both tallying double figures as well, averaging 13.3 and 12.8 points per game respectively.
Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the week having won back-to-back games after downing Cornerstone 86-69 on the road Saturday afternoon. Haley Cook leads four Indiana Tech players averaging in double figures, tallying 17.9 points per game. Keanna Gary adds 17.2 points and 12.4 rebounds per game, and is shooting 60.9% from the floor on the year.
Everyone Involved: All nine players that dressed last Saturday against Marygrove contributed in multiple ways. Every player scored at least three points and all nine grabbed at least one rebound. Eight of the nine players also handed out an assist, and seven of the nine registered at least one steal.
Motycka Tallies Season High: Lindsey Motycka entered the Marygrove game having scored just 13 points and 20 rebounds in the seven games in which she had appeared this season. The sophomore nearly recorded a double-double against the Mustangs though, scoring 10 points and grabbing nine rebounds, both season highs. The rebounding effort matched her career best set last season against Cincinnati Christian (Oct. 31, 2015) in her collegiate debut.
Forcing Turnovers: Lourdes forced 22 turnovers against Aquinas and 20 more against Marygrove last week. The Gray Wolves have now created 20 or more miscues from the opposition in three of the last four games. Overall Lourdes has forced 20 plus turnovers in 11 of the 22 games this season.
Whiteside Adds Another Double-Double: Daja Whiteside posted her team-leading fifth double-double of the year on Saturday against Marygrove with 14 points and 13 rebounds. It was the senior's second double-double in her last three games, and the 11th double-double by a Gray Wolf this season.
Among the Nation's Leaders: Lourdes ranks eighth among all NAIA Division II teams averaging 16.68 offensive rebounds per game. The Gray Wolves are also 31st nationally with 10.59 steals per game, while also ranking 31st grabbing 41.50 rebounds per night per night.

Individuals in the National Leaders: Daja Whiteside ranks 17th among all NAIA Division II players averaging 3.77 offensive rebounds per game. Whiteside is also 27th nationally shooting 82.1% from the free throw line.Â
Jesse Fidler ranks 21st in offensive rebounding, pulling down 3.55 offensive caroms per night. Fidler is also 46th in the country shooting 46.8% from the floor.
This and That: Jesse Fidler needs just 12 points for 900 in her career ... Lourdes will have just two home games remaining this season following the Concordia (Mich.) contest ... no Gray Wolves have started all 22 games this season.
