Gray Wolves Head to Grand Rapids for Two Games This Week

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: Lourdes wraps up its three-game road trip with a pair of games in Grand Rapids, Mich. this week.  The Gray Wolves head to Cornerstone on Wednesday evening before battling sixth-ranked Davenport in a Saturday matinee.

Head Coach Summer Quesenberry: In her first season on the Lourdes bench Summer Quesenberry has a 6-18 (.250) record.  Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Quesenberry has a 59-86 (.407) record in her fifth season.  She is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Cornerstone leads the all-time series against Lourdes 11-0 dating back to Dec. 10, 2011.  The Golden Eagles won the first meeting this season between the two schools 81-74 in overtime at the Ebeid Rec Center on Dec. 7.  Cornerstone is 5-0 against Lourdes in Grand Rapids, Mich.  Davenport is 11-0 all-time against the Gray Wolves dating back to Jan. 4, 2012.  The Panthers won the first meeting this season 99-39 on Dec. 17 at the Ebeid Rec Center.  Davenport is 5-0 against Lourdes in Grand Rapids.

Earlier This Season: Lourdes rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to force overtime on Dec. 7 against Cornerstone, but came up short in the extra session 81-75 at the Ebeid Rec Center.  Elayna Ackerman led Lourdes with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Molea Thompson added 15 points.  Jesse Sheridan paced the Golden Eagles with 27 points.  On Dec. 17, Lourdes shot just 21.1% from the floor and committed 27 turnovers as Davenport defeated the Gray Wolves 99-39 at the Ebeid Rec Center.  Jesse Fidler led Lourdes with nine points while Ashley Cline had 16 points off of the bench to lead the Panthers.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes trailed Concordia (Mich.) by just two at halftime, but the Cardinals slowly pulled away in the second half, defeating the Gray Wolves 73-61 on Wednesday at the Ebeid Rec Center.  Jesse Fidler had a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds to pace Lourdes.  On Saturday at Indiana Tech, Molea Thompson tallied 24 points, but the Warriors broke open an eight-point halftime lead in the third quarter to defeat the Gray Wolves 88-61.  

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles have dropped three straight games after suffering an 80-78 setback at Madonna on Saturday afternoon.  Jesse Sheridan leads Cornerstone averaging 18.0 points per game, a mark that ranks 14th in NAIA Division II.  Cass Vredevoogd adds 10.9 points and a team-high 5.8 rebounds per game for the Golden Eagles.  As a team Cornerstone is averaging 64.8 points per game and is shooting 40.2% from the floor, but just 30.1% from three-point range.

Scouting Davenport: The sixth-ranked Panthers enter the week having won eight straight games after defeating Northwestern Ohio 81-54 on Saturday afternoon at home.  Davenport heads to Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes.  Courtney Murphy leads the Panthers averaging 12.4 points per game on the season while Jenna Falkenberg adds 10.6 points per night.  As a team Davenport is averaging 83.5 points per game, sixth best in the country, and shooting 43.5% from the floor.

Fidler Notches Fourth Double-Double: Jesse Fidler had her fourth double-double of the season for the Gray Wolves last Wednesday against Concordia (Mich.).  The junior matched her career-high with 21 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, a season's best and one off of her career high.  Fidler now has six career double-doubles.

Thompson Posts Career High: Molea Thompson made four three-pointers on Saturday afternoon at Indiana Tech on her way to a career-high 24 points, bettering her previous high of 22 from her collegiate debut against Rochester (Mich.) on Oct. 30, 2014.  The junior's effort was her second 20-point game of the season and third of her career.

Ramey Tallied Career Best: Payton Ramey scored in double figures for just the third time in her career last Wednesday against Concordia (Mich.), tallying a career-high 11 points against the Cardinals.  Ramey also pulled down eight boards against Concordia, one shy of her career high set just one game prior against Marygrove.

Closing In On 1,000: Jesse Fidler enters the week needing just 87 points to reach 1,000 for her career.  The Gray Wolf junior has scored 913 points in her first three years, and is just 13 points shy of 300 for the second consecutive season.  Last year Fidler tallied 353 total points.

Among the Nation's Leaders: Lourdes ranks ninth among all NAIA Division II teams averaging 16.38 offensive rebounds per game.  The Gray Wolves are also 25th nationally pulling down 41.58 total rebounds per contest.  In addition, Lourdes ranks 31st in the country tallying 10.42 steals per night.
 
Individuals in the National Leaders: Jesse Fidler ranks 19th in offensive rebounding, pulling down 3.67 offensive caroms per night.  Fidler is also 44th in the country shooting 47.5% from the floor.  Daja Whiteside ranks 23rd among all NAIA Division II players averaging 3.46 offensive rebounds per game.  

This and That: Lourdes went 17-for-18 (94.4%) from the free throw line Saturday against Indiana Tech ... every Gray Wolf that has appeared in a game this season has made at least one start ... Jesse Fidler needs 37 rebounds to reach 00 for her career ... Samantha Enck has dished out a team-high 44 assists this year.
