Upcoming in Gray Wolves Basketball: The midway point of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference slate occurs this week for Lourdes. The Gray Wolves wrap up the first half of play on Wednesday at home entertaining Siena Heights before beginning round two of league action on Saturday with a game at Michigan-Dearborn.
Head Coach Summer Quesenberry: In her first season on the Lourdes bench
Summer Quesenberry has a 5-13 (.278) record. Overall as a women's collegiate head coach, Quesenberry has a 58-81 (.417) record in her fifth season. She is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Siena Heights leads the all-time series against Lourdes 10-0 dating back to Dec. 3, 2011. Last year the Saints defeated the Gray Wolves 53-49 in Adrian, Mich. before closing out the regular season with a 65-50 win in a game played at Owens Community College. Lourdes leads the all-time series with Michigan-Dearborn 6-5 dating back to Jan. 14, 2012. The Gray Wolves posted an 81-71 victory over the Wolverines earlier this season on Nov. 19 at the Ebeid Rec Center. Michigan-Dearborn holds a 3-2 series edge in Dearborn, Mich.
Earlier This Season: Molea Thompson led four Gray Wolves in double figures with 17 points, making 11-of-14 from the free throw line, as Lourdes registered its first victory of the season, defeating Michigan-Dearborn 81-71 on Nov. 19 at the Ebeid Rec Center.Â
Kalena Harris added 14 points off of the bench while
Samantha Enck (11 points) and
Jesse Fidler (10 points) both tallied double figures as well. Megan Swick led Michigan-Dearborn with 17 points.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes fell behind 37-7 midway through the second quarter last Wednesday, and despite outscoring Northwestern Ohio 24-9 over the final 10 minutes fell to the Racers 71-59 on the road.Â
Daja Whiteside led Lourdes with 16 points as the only Gray Wolf to tally double figures. On Saturday, Lawrence Tech shot 54% from the floor on the afternoon and defeated Lourdes 82-60 in Southfield, Mich.Â
Elayna Ackerman led the Gray Wolves with 14 points and eight rebounds off of the bench.
Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints have won eight of their last night games after defeating Marygrove 81-43 on Saturday afternoon at home. April Watson leads Siena Heights averaging 18.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game while Jaaliyah Arrington (10.8 ppg) and Clara Waidley (10.1 ppg) each average in double figures as well. The Saints are holding their opposition to just 61.7 points per night. Siena Heights is also outrebounding its opponents by 9.4 boards per night, a mark that is seventh best in NAIA Division II.
Scouting Michigan-Dearborn: The Wolverines have lost three straight games after falling at home, 76-61, to Madonna on Saturday. Michigan-Dearborn heads to Aquinas on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes. Emily Heinrich leads the Wolverines in scoring and rebounding, averaging 9.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest. Kendall Rose adds 9.0 points per night. As a team Michigan-Dearborn is averaging 57.2 points per game.
In the Tournament Hunt: As the Gray Wolves move into the second half of conference play, Lourdes finds itself just one game out of the final qualifying spot for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament which begins at the end of February. Lourdes has never qualified for postseason play in the program's history. The top eight teams make the league tournament and Madonna and Aquinas are currently tied for the final spot, each one game ahead of the Gray Wolves.
A Fourth Quarter Team: Lourdes has outscored its opponents 382-374 during the final 10 minutes this season, the only quarter the Gray Wolves hold the advantage over their foes. Lourdes has outscored the opposition in each of the last three games, including a 24-9 advantage at Northwestern Ohio last Saturday.
Improvement at the Charity Stripe: Lourdes has struggled at the free throw line, shooting just 64.6% from the stripe this season. However, that percentage has gone up over the last two games. The Gray Wolves connected on 15-of-20 (75%) last Wednesday at Northwestern Ohio before making 11-of-12 (91.7%) of its tosses from the line on Saturday at Lawrence Tech.
76 the Magic Number: Lourdes has found that 76 points is its magic number this season. The Gray Wolves have won all five games in which it has reached 76 points, while going 0-13 when failing to reach the threshold.
Among the Nation's Leaders: Lourdes ranks 10th among all NAIA Division II teams averaging 16.28 offensive rebounds per game. The Gray Wolves are also 26th nationally with 10.78 steals per game, while ranking 32nd grabbing 41.61 rebounds per night per night.

Individuals in the National Leaders: Daja Whiteside ranks 17th among all NAIA Division II players averaging 3.61 offensive rebounds per game. Whiteside is also 40th nationally shooting 81.4% from the free throw line.Â
Jesse Fidler ranks 27th in offensive rebounding, pulling down 3.28 offensive caroms per night. Fidler is also 41st in the country shooting 47.0% from the floor.

Kalena Harris has 36 steals on the season, most on the team ... a win against Siena Heights would move the Gray Wolves back to .500 in the new Ebeid Rec Center ... Fidler,
