Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes continues its four-match road trip this week, looking to snap a three-game losing streak with a pair of matches away from home. The Gray Wolves travel to Siena Heights on Wednesday evening before heading south to face Northwestern Ohio in a Saturday matinee.
Head Coach Barry Spitzer: In his third season on the Lourdes bench,
Barry Spitzer has a 17-21-4 (.452) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as a men's soccer collegiate head coach at four year programs. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes and Siena Heights have split a pair of matches in a series that dates back to Oct. 24, 2015. Both previous contests have been played at Wildcat Stadium, with the Saints winning the initial meeting 1-0 before the Gray Wolves posted a 2-0 triumph in 2016. Northwestern Ohio holds a 2-0 series edge against Lourdes dating back to Sept. 26, 2015. Last year the Racers notched a 5-0 victory over the Gray Wolves at Wildcat Stadium. The only previous meeting in Lima, Ohio came in the initial contest, a 2-0 win for Northwestern Ohio.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Madonna tallied the lone goal of the match on Wednesday afternoon as the Crusaders scored a 1-0 victory over the Gray Wolves at Wildcat Stadium.Â
Jose Cedillo made six stops in net for Lourdes, as the hosts were outshot overall 15-7.Â
Judah Goodridge tallied the lone goal for the Gray Wolves on Saturday at Marygrove in a 2-1 setback to the Mustangs. Cedillo made 10 more stops for Lourdes between the posts.
Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints have dropped three straight matches, all via shutout, after falling at Michigan-Dearborn 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. Rahbar Khan leads Siena Heights with four goals and seven assists for 15 total points, having been involved in 11 of the team's 15 goals. Morgan Gardocki has played most of the minutes in goal for the Saints, sporting a 2.68 goals against average and a .695 save percentage.
Scouting Northwestern Ohio: The Racers have won three straight matches entering the week. Northwestern Ohio hosts Indiana Tech on Wednesday before entertaining Lourdes. Pascal Debowiak leads the Racers with nine goals and 20 points on the season while Pepe Cejudo has handed out a team-leading six assists and has registered 16 total points. In goal, Caio Preza and Mark McMillan have split time, with Preza sporting a 0.80 GAA and a .778 save percentage and McMillan posting a 1.56 GAA and a .600 save mark.
Goodridge Second on Single Season Charts: Judah Goodridge has scored seven goals over the last six matches for the Gray Wolves to the team's scoring lead with eight goals on the year. Goodridge has accounted for Lourdes' last four goals overall as a team. His eight goals this season move him into a tie with
Jake Kirchoff-Sleet (2015) for the second most goals in a single season in program history. Kirchoff-Sleet also owns the school record, scoring 13 times last year.
Amirally Racking Up Points: After registering an assist against Marygrove on Saturday,
Haggi Amirally has now earned at least one point in six of the eight matches in which he has stepped onto the field this season. Amirally's helper was his second of the year to go along with seven goals, giving him 16 total points, second most on the team behind
Judah Goodridge's 18 points.
A Record-Setting Road Trip: Lourdes is in the midst of a four-match road trip, which began on Saturday at Marygrove. The trip represents the longest the Gray Wolves will have been away from home in program history. Entering this week, Lourdes has never played more than two straight road contests in its three years, and this year has only had three total road matches overall entering the trip.
Team's Assist Leaders: Akilla Arno has handed out four assists on the year to match
Adilson Darosa for the team's lead this season. Arno now has nine career helpers, just one shy of
Jake Kirchoff-Sleet's (2015-2016) career mark of 10.
Cedillo Sets Single Season Mark: Jose Cedillo made 16 saves over the two matches last weekend, breaking the school's single season saves mark during the loss at Marygrove on Saturday. The fifth-year senior has made 56 stops this year while registering an .824 save percentage, and sports a 1.15 goals against average. Cedillo broke his own single season mark of 50 set last year, and now owns the top three spots on the single season chart while recorded 143 career saves.
Spreading Out the Points: Lourdes has scored a total of 24 goals while handing out 20 assists on the year, but has seen production from a variety of sources. A total of 11 different players have registered at least one point during the 2017 campaign for the Gray Wolves.
Amirally Among the Nation's Leaders: Jose Cedillo ranks 36th in the NAIA averaging 5.60 saves per match.Â
Judah Goodridge ranks 38th in the country tallying 0.89 goals per match while
Haggi Amirally is 41st recording 0.88 goals per contest.
