Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: The 2017 regular season comes to the close this week for Lourdes University, and the Gray Wolves are needing points in each of their final two matches if they want a chance to qualify for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament next week.  Lourdes travels to Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday, a team the Gray Wolves are tied with in the standings, before hosting Concordia (Mich.), one of the teams Lourdes is chasing, on Saturday for Senior Day.

Head Coach Barry Spitzer: In his third season on the Lourdes bench, Barry Spitzer has a 17-25-4 (.413) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as a men's soccer collegiate head coach at four year programs.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes and Michigan-Dearborn have split a pair of matches in a series that dates back to Oct. 3, 2015.  The Gray Wolves won the initial meeting in Brighton, Mich. 3-0 before the Wolverines won last year's contest at Wildcat Stadium 2-1.  Concordia (Mich.) and Lourdes have also split two meetings dating back to Oct. 14, 2015.  The Gray Wolves won the first meeting 3-0 before the Cardinals posted a 2-1 victory last season, with both matches being played in Ann Arbor, Mich.  This will be Concordia's first trip to Wildcat Stadium.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Cornerstone tallied a penalty kick goal for the only tally of the match in the 69th minute on Wednesday, and defeated Lourdes 1-0 in Grand Rapids, Mich.  Jose Cedillo made five saves for the Gray Wolves in goal.  On Saturday, Lawrence Tech notched a 3-0 victory over of Lourdes at Wildcat Stadium, with Cedillo making nine stops between the posts.

Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals enter the week having dropped three straight contests after a 4-1 setback to Madonna on Sunday.  Concordia hosts Marygrove on Wednesday before facing Lourdes.  Josh Posuniak leads Concordia with eight goals and 20 points while Jeff Thomas has seven assists.  In goal, Marino Moracinni has a 1.85 goals against average and a .746 save percentage while Spencer War has a 1.41 GAA and a .703 save mark in shared time.

Battling for a WHAC Tourney Bid: Lourdes enters the final week of the regular season in a tie for ninth place in the league standings, but just three points out of the final WHAC tournament berth.  They are facing the team they are tied with on Wednesday (Michigan-Dearborn) as well as one of the two teams they are chasing for eighth place (Concordia).

Thanks Seniors: Lourdes will honor the seven members of its senior class prior to Saturday's match with Concordia (Mich.).  Haggi Amirally, Akilla Arno, Jose Cedillo, Adilson Darosa, Orlando Gomez, Judah Goodridge, and Ceasar Liadi are all coming to the close of their collegiate careers.
