Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: The 2017 baseball season comes to a close this week as Lourdes wraps up Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play with a three-game series against Cornerstone.  The schedule has been altered, and the Gray Wolves and Golden Eagles will now play a doubleheader in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Wednesday before returning to Mercy Field for the series finale on Friday.

Head Coach Jeremy Snow: In his second season on the Lourdes bench, Jeremy Snow has a 26-69 (.274) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves, as well as in his career as a collegiate head coach.  He is the second head coach in Lourdes program's history, and interim tag removed from his title during the offseason.

Probable Starters: Lourdes has not announced its rotation for the series with the Golden Eagles at this time.

Series Notes: Lourdes leads the all-time series against Cornerstone 9-7 dating back to April 5, 2013.  Last year the two schools split a four-game series in Grand Rapids, Mich., with the Gray Wolves winning the first doubleheader 7-3 and 7-5 before the Golden Eagles took the final two games 7-3 and 1-0.  Lourdes holds a 6-2 series advantage in Grand Rapids, Mich., but Cornerstone holds a 5-3 series edge in games played at Mercy Field.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes dropped its final two non-conference games of the season on Wednesday, falling to Taylor at home 10-8 and 11-8.  Mike Vomastek had three hits in the opener for the Gray Wolves while Kyle Sherman had three hits and Cameron Gallo drove home three runs in the nightcap.  Lourdes opened a doubleheader on Saturday at Rochester (Mich.) with an 11-1 win behind a complete game from Zach Brown.  Dallas Riggs and Devin Stanley each had three hits in the win.  In game two, Kyle Rogge went the distance and Glen Crabtree had three hits as Lourdes downed the Warriors 10-1.  The Gray Wolves rallied from an 8-0 deficit in the series finale on Sunday to defeat Rochester 20-9 behind a 13-run seventh inning.  Riggs and Crabtree both drove home five runs in the win.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles have dropped three straight games entering the week after having been swept in a series at Davenport last weekend.  Jonny Abbadusky leads Cornerstone batting .418 on the year while Jon Stewart and Joe Corsten have a team-leading 39 runs batted in each.  Jarod Burton had a team-high four home runs on a team that is batting .308 for the season.  The Golden Eagles pitching staff sports a 5.13 earned run average while the opposition is batting .269 against the hurlers.  Collin Young leads the pitching staff with a 4-3 record and a 3.19 ERA.

Weekend Schedule Altered: With the numerous schedule changes this season, it only seems appropriate for the final weekend to have adjustments as well.  Lourdes will now travel to Cornerstone on Wednesday for a doubleheader in an attempt to beat inclement weather while Friday's home contest will now be a single game at 1 p.m.

Crabtree Earns WHAC Honors: Glen Crabtree became the first Gray Wolf since 2014 to be named WHAC Player of the Week after batting .545 last week with a double, a home run, seven runs scored, and 10 runs batted in.  He had five multi-hit games, including a pair of three-hit contests, and drove home five runs in the series finale against Rochester (Mich.).

Brown and Rogge Both Hurl Gems: Zach Brown and Kolby Rogge both threw complete game victories on Saturday at Rochester (Mich.).  Brown scattered just three hits and allowed one run while striking out four over the seven innings.  Rogge followed that effort up with a nine-inning complete game, allowing just one run and seven hits while fanning three.  They were the first two complete games of the season for Gray Wolf hurlers.

Riggs and Gallo Have Big Weeks: Dallas Riggs and Cameron Gallo both had a solid week swinging the bat against Taylor and Rochester (Mich.).  Riggs was 10-for-21 (.476) with three doubles, a triple, and 11 runs batted in while scoring eight times.  Gallo went 9-for-20 (.450) with three two-baggers and 10 RBI, while crossing home plate six times.  They raised their season averages to .325 and .333 respectively with their production.

Stanley Keeps on Hitting: Devin Stanley continues to lead the way offensively for Lourdes, batting .368 on the season after going 8-for-19 (.421) last week.  He has been even better in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play, swinging at a .382 clip, while driving in 15 of his 18 runs against league foes.  In league play Stanley has registered a .449 on base percentage, and has not committed an error defensively.

Pinch-Hitting Success: Lourdes batters are hitting .419 in pinch-hitting situations this season (18-for-43).  Zach Brown has produced when called upon off of the bench, going a perfect 6-for-6 in pinch-hitting opportunities on the year.  Cameron Gallo is 4-for-6 when his number has been called late in games while Zak Laubscher also has a pair of pinch hits.

Defensively Sound: Lourdes is having its finest defensive season in program history this year, fielding at a .957 clip.  The Gray Wolves' previous best was .951 during the 2016 campaign.  This year Lourdes has committed just 68 errors in 44 games.

This and That: Dallas Riggs is the lone Gray Wolf to appear in all 44 games this season ... Devin Stanley and Dallas Riggs both have 14 multi-hit games on the year ... George Pastor and Riggs both have nine multi-RBI games to lead the team ... Cameron Gallo enters the week with a seven-game hitting streak, the longest by a Gray Wolf this season.
