Games #4-6: at Indiana Tech (2-1, 2-1 WHAC)
Saturday, September 30, 12 p.m. EDT (DH)
Sunday, October 1, 12 p.m. EDT
Warrior Baseball Field - Fort Wayne, Ind.

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: After a three-game sweep against Michigan-Dearborn at home last weekend, Lourdes wraps up the fall portion of the 2018 baseball season this weekend as the Gray Wolves travel to Indiana Tech.  Lourdes will play a doubleheader against the Warriors on Saturday before capping the series with a single game on Sunday.

Head Coach Jeremy Snow: In his third season on the Lourdes bench, Jeremy Snow has a 29-71 (.290) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves, as well as in his career as a collegiate head coach.  He is the second head coach in Lourdes program's history,.

Probable Starters: Lourdes has not announced its weekend rotation against Indiana Tech at this time.

Series Notes: Indiana Tech is 23-0 all-time against Lourdes in a series that dates back to April 27, 2012.  Last season the Warriors swept all three games against the Gray Wolves at Mercy Field, winning 6-1 on Oct. 1 and 13-3 and 11-4 in an Oct. 2 doubleheader.  Indiana Tech is 10-0 against Lourdes at Warrior Baseball Field, with the teams having last met in Fort Wayne, Ind. on April 5, 2016.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes opened the season with a three-game sweep of Michigan-Dearborn at Mercy Field.  Zach Brown got the win in Saturday's opener as Lourdes defeated the Wolverines 13-3.  In game two of the doubleheader, the Gray Wolves pushed across a run in the bottom of the 10th to score a 9-8 win.  Lourdes capped the series on Sunday with a 6-2 triumph behind the pitching of Matt York.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors opened the season winning two of three against Concordia (Mich.) last weekend in Ann Arbor, Mich.  As a team Indiana Tech batted .272 with David Johnson II leading the way hitting at a .444 clip.  Tighe Koehring recorded eight runs batted in on the weekend while hitting .308.  The Indiana Tech pitching staff registered a 5.19 earned run average, with the Cardinals hitting .297 against them.

Best Start in Program History: The season-opening win on Saturday against Michigan-Dearborn marked just the first time in program history Lourdes had won its season opener.  The Gray Wolves also won their first game in 2013, a 2-1 decision in at Taylor.  Lourdes has never started better than 1-2 through three games though, with that also occurring in 2013.  In fact, in every other season, the Gray Wolves had dropped at least four straight contests to begin the year.

A Two Sport Standout: Jay Denman won WHAC Player of the Week honors not just in baseball, but also in golf for his efforts this past week.  On the diamond Denman batted .900 (9-for-10) against Michigan-Dearborn, scoring seven times, driving home four runs, stealing two bases, and registering both a double and a home run.  On the golf course, Denman finished in a tie for fifth at the Defiance Invitational, carding a two-over par round on Sunday, which prevented him from playing in the baseball series finale.

More Success in the Leadoff Sport: While Jay Denman posted solid numbers in the leadoff spot in Saturday's twinbill, Devin Stanley filled in nicely on Sunday.  Stanley went 3-for-4 with two runs scored a RBI, and a stolen base.  For the weekend, Lourdes leadoff hitters combined to bat .857 (12-for-14) with nine runs scored, five runs batted in, and three steals.

A Solid Rookie Weekend: Cole Cantelon made the most of his first collegiate action last weekend.  The Gray Wolf right fielder batted .385 with five hits, including a double, and five runs batted in making his rookie debut.

Gallo and Stanley Tally Five Hits Each: Cameron Gallo and Devin Stanley also had five hits during the opening weekend, including at least one in each game.  Gallo hit .500 while drawing four walks and driving home four runs while Stanley batted .417 with three RBI and three runs scored.

Strong Pitching: Lourdes got solid production from its pitching staff during the opening weekend against Michigan-Dearborn.  Zach Brown allowed just one earned run over six innings while striking out six to earn the win in the season opener while Matt York yielded just two runs in eight innings of work, while striking out seven, to earn the victory in the series finale.  Adam Hoyos made two appearances in relief, striking out three in three innings, and earned the win in game two of Saturday's twinbill.

Playing Defense: Lourdes committed just two errors in 27 innings defensively last weekend, as the team posted a .982 fielding percentage.  The Gray Wolves did not have any issues fielding the ball, as both miscues were of the throwing variety.

This and That: Lourdes batted .379 as a team over the opening weekend while the pitching staff posted a 3.67 earned run average ... five different players had multi-RBI games and eight players had multi-hit efforts at least once last weekend ... seven players reached base safely in all three games ... Lourdes is assured of finishing the fall portion of the schedule with a record at least at .500.
