Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: For the first time in 2017 Lourdes men's soccer team will take to the road as the Gray Wolves travel to Grace Bible on Thursday afternoon. The match is the first of two straight road contests for the Gray Wolves, and three of the next four matches overall will be played away from Wildcat Stadium.
Head Coach Barry Spitzer: In his third season on the Lourdes bench,
Barry Spitzer has a 13-17-4 (.412) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as a men's soccer collegiate head coach at four year programs. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes is 2-0 all-time against Grace Bible in a series that dates back to Aug. 28, 2015, the inaugural match in program history for the Gray Wolves. Lourdes won the initial meeting, played in Wyoming, Mich., 3-2 in overtime. The Gray Wolves added another victory over Grace Bible to open last season, this time at Wildcat Stadium, defeating the Tigers 3-1 on Aug. 27, 2016.
Wrapping Up Last Week: For the second straight match Lourdes went beyond 90 minutes, but the Gray Wolves came up just short on Saturday evening, falling 2-1 in double-overtime at home against Cleary.Â
Adilson Darosa put the Gray Wolves in front in the 56th minute. The Cougars tied the match with 9:23 remaining in regulation on a goal from Daniel Hector Lora, then won the match with just 31 seconds to play in the extra session as Noah Schneider found the back of the net.Â
Jose Cedillo made three saves in the loss for Lourdes.
Scouting Grace Bible: The Tigers notched their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Randall 4-2 in Grayson, Ky. Daniel Sischo leads Grace Bible with six points on the season, having scored twice while adding two assists. Dylan DeVries has also scored two goals on the year while Jorge Leon has two assists along with a goal for four points. Between the posts, Jake Larsen has played two of the three contests, sporting a 2.50 goals against average and a .706 save percentage. Mark Olson started the opener, making six saves while surrendering four goals.
Looking to Remain Unbeaten in Road Openers: Lourdes is 2-0 in program season in the team's first road contest of the year. In 2015, the Gray Wolves downed Grace Bible 3-2 in overtime in what was also the first match in program history. Last year, Lourdes traveled to Andrews and scored a 9-1 victory over the Cardinals to begin the 2016 road slate.
Overtime Streak Ends: Lourdes had never lost an overtime contest prior to Saturday night's setback against Cleary. The Gray Wolves were 1-0-4 in the previous five overtime contests, having tied their last four matches after scoring the overtime win in the program debut.
Darosa Fourth in Career Goals: Adilson Darosa scored his first goal of the season on Saturday against Cleary, and his first since 2015 after sitting out the 2016 campaign as a redshirt. The fifth-year senior now has six career goals, and has moved into a tie with
Isamnia Cohen (2016) for fourth place on the Gray Wolves' career goal list.
Goodridge Adds an Assist: Judah Goodridge was credited with the assist on the goal against Cleary, his first helper of the season. Goodridge now has four career assists over his first three years with the Gray Wolves, and is tied with
Dean Bonsu (2015-2016) and teammate
Orlando Gomez for sixth place on the career charts. Goodridge also has 20 career points, second most in school history behind
Jake Kirchoff-Sleet's (2015-2016) school-record 52 points.
Scoring First: Lourdes has found the back of the net first in both of its matches this season. Unfortunately for the Gray Wolves, their opponent has tied the contest in the second half both times. Indiana East knotted the match in the 63rd minute while Cleary tied the contest in the 81st minute.
Nearing the Century Mark: Jose Cedillo is the Gray Wolves' career saves leader, and added to his total on Saturday with three stops between the posts against Cleary. He enters the Grace Bible match with 96 career saves, and is well on his way to becoming the first Lourdes goalkeeper to reach the century mark.
Lots of Matches: Akilla Arno has appeared in 34 matches as a Gray Wolf over his three seasons, and is now the school's all-time leader in matches played.Â

Carlos Viganoni (2015-2016) for second play on the career matches played list with 32.
Lots of Color: There have already been 12 cards issued in Lourdes matches this season, including nine last Saturday in the match against Cleary. The Gray Wolves have been booked for four yellows thus far this year, while their opposition have been charged with seven yellow cards and a red card. Â
Outshot Thus Far: Lourdes has been outshot by the opposition 40-25 through two matches thus far this season. The Gray Wolves have managed just eight shots on goal while surrendering 12 to its opponents. Among the players, only
Judah Goodridge has more than one shot on goal for the Gray Wolves, having registered three of the team's eight this year.
Captains: Jose Cedillo and
Judah Goodridge have been named the Lourdes captains for the 2017 season. Both are serving in the leadership role for the first time in their careers.
