Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: After two weeks off, Lourdes returns to the field on Saturday afternoon, hosting Union (Ky.) at Wildcat Stadium. The game will be the final tune-up for the Gray Wolves prior to the start of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play next week.
On the Air: Saturday's game against Union will be broadcast by BCSN on a tape-delay basis as part of Buckeye Broadband.  The game will air on BCSN on Saturday evening at 11:30 p.m.
Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his fifth season on the Lourdes bench,
Patrick Yannarelli has a 47-19 (.712) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. Yannarelli was named the NAIA National Coach of the Year in 2016. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes has never met Union (Ky.) on the field in men's lacrosse.
Wrapping Up Last Week (or Several Weeks Ago): Lourdes scored a 17-9 neutral site victory over Point on March 6 in Williamsburg, Ky.Â
Greg Johanning had an eight-point game with four goals and four assists while
Cory Campbell added four goals in the win. The Gray Wolves followed that win up with a 6-5 overtime triumph at Cumberlands on March 8.Â
Mark O'Bryant scored three times, including the game-winner with one second remaining in overtime. Lourdes closed the week on March 10 with a 14-3 home-opening victory over Montreat. Campbell led the way with three goals while Johanning had four assists as nine Gray Wolves found the back of the cage in the victory.
Scouting Union (Ky.): The Bulldogs are still looking for their first victory of the season after falling 16-8 at Montreat on Tuesday afternoon. John Senior leads Union with 19 goals and 20 total points on the season while Anthony Senior has scored 15 times. Zack Maddox and William Walters each have four assists to lead the Bulldogs. In goal, Conner McAuliffe has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 16.86 goals against average and a .443 save percentage.
Huiskens Earned Second Honor: Jared Huiskens was named the WHAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season on March 12 after leading the Gray Wolves to three victories over spring break. The redshirt-junior goalkeeper sported a 5.06 goals against average and a .625 save percentage, playing all but 6:14 in the wins over Point, Cumberlands, and Montreat.
Winning Faceoffs: Lourdes has been able to start its offense from the X, as the Gray Wolves have won 67.6% (73-of-108) of their faceoffs this year. Freshman
Jake Noel is 50-of-76 (65.8%) while
Collin Miller is 17-of-22 (77.3%) in the role. Lourdes has not lost the faceoff battle in any game this season.
Among the Nation's Leaders: Mark O'Bryant ranks eighth among all NAIA players averaging 2.20 assists per contest.Â
Greg Johanning is 10th nationally firing 9.80 shots per game, while his 2.00 assists per contest rank 11th. Johanning is also 18th in points per game with 4.00 per night. As a team, Lourdes is sixth in the NAIA tallying 41.80 shots per game, and eighth in shots on goal per game at 25.20. The team's 6.80 assists per night rank ninth and the 11.80 goals per contest are 11th best nationally.
A Nationally-Ranked Victory: The win over seventh-ranked Cumberlands on March 8 improved the Gray Wolves' all-time record to 10-5 against NAIA top-10 ranked opponents. Lourdes went 4-3 in such games during the 2017 season.
This and That: The Gray Wolves have had 13 different players score goals this season ... the overtime win against Cumberlands improved Lourdes to 3-1 all-time in overtime contests ... the Gray Wolves are outscoring their opponents in every quarter this season except the first, which is even 7-7.
