Lourdes Splits Hearthstone and Overwatch Matchups

OVERWATCH

Box Score

King's Row

The first map of the night pitted Lourdes against Mount Union on King's Row. The Gray Wolves started on the attack but after a few clutch Immortality Fields by the opposing support, Lourdes was unable to take the first point. After the teams switched sides, Lourdes was able to hold off the Purple Raiders shortly, but eventually lost the map 1-0.

Lijiang Tower
The second map chosen was Lijiang Tower. The first point was contentious as the two teams swapped back and forth in their control of the point. However, due to a timely ultimate by the Mount Union's Sigma, the point was won by the opposition. On the next point, the Gray Wolves were able to assert their dominance as they gained control and never relinquished it, winning the second round. Finally, on the last point, both teams came with identical tactics. Ultimately, Mount Union reached the point first and were able to hold off the Gray Wolves, taking the map by a score of 2-1.

Lourdes Overwatch will continue competition October 12 against GLEC foe Northwood.

HEARTHSTONE

Match one was a Druid/Warrior match up. Lourdes started turn one putting them in a disadvantage with their Druid. The Warrior was a straight counter to Lourdes. Lourdes made a huge comeback with a 'Cenarius' Wall that forced the badgers to concede.

In match two, Lourdes brought out their Priest Deck for a Priest/Warrior match up. Lourdes started strong with a turn one 'Injured Tol'vir'. By turn five, Lourdes had a strong board lead with four minions compared to the Badgers zero. Lourdes took the Badgers down to zero with a 33 damage hit from a 'Inner Fire' Combo, taking game two.

In the third match, Lourdes played their final deck as Badgers swapped to a new deck, resulting in a Shaman/Paladin match up. Lourdes got an unlucky 'Mutate' turn 3 giving them 'Hir'eek, the Bat'. Even with the unlucky 'Mutate' Lourdes still held tempo. Turn 7 the Badgers once again conceded to Lourdes giving Lourdes a 3-0 win. With the win, Lourdes Hearthstone improves their record to 2-1.

Lourdes Hearthstone will continue TESPA Collegiate Championship play 10 p.m. on October 8 (opponent TBA).
