OVERWATCH:
Last night's GLEC Overwatch matchup saw the Lourdes Gray Wolves defeat the Aquinas Saints in a tight match 2-1. The first map chosen by Aquinas was Rialto. Starting on attack first, the Gray Wolves completed the map, capping all three points with about 1:30 left in their time bank. The next round put Lourdes on defense and despite their best efforts, the Gray Wolves were unable to hold the Saints, allowing them to capture all three points as well. Round three put the Gray Wolves back on attack, but they found little success, only being able to push the payload across the first bridge. In the fourth round, Aquinas was able to clear our Lourdes, getting the final point and winning the first map 4-3.

The second map choice went to Lourdes and they picked Lijiang Tower. The first point played was Gardens. The round went back and forth with both teams taking control throughout the round. However, Lourdes was able to win a final fight in the end, winning round one 100-99. The next point was Control Center. Here the Gray Wolves dominated, barely allowing Aquinas to grab any point presence, winning the round 100-14.

The final map choice was Aquinas', and the Saints picked Eichenwalde. The Gray Wolves were on attack first and thanks to some timely ultimate usage by
Jimmy Baye and
Jorge Mendoza, Lourdes was able to capture all three points and finish the map. The next round, although Lourdes played some hard defense on the third point, Aquinas also completed the map. Round three put the Saints on attack and, although they were able to capture the first point, the Gray Wolves held them close, stopping Aquinas from gaining much distance. Round four forced Lourdes on attack and after a hard engagement on the first point, and a very tense fight afterwards, the Gray Wolves were able to push the payload to where Aquinas ended winning the map 4-3 and the match 2-1.

Match 1 against the Bearcats was a Druid vs Druid mirror. Both teams started off slow to complete their 'Untapped Potential' quest both completing it turn 4. Both teams went back and forth with board control with the Druids heavy removal. Lourdes held strong and the Bearcats were unable to keep their removal efforts intact, giving the Gray Wolves game 1.

In match 2, the Bearcats changed course for a Warrior vs Shaman game. Cincinnati took early board control with a strong 'Evolve'. The Bearcats kept their lackeys and evolves moving, as they held onto board control and stopped Lourdes from building up armor. The Bearcats won the late game with a 'Bloodlust' due to Lourdes late 'Dr. Boom, Mad Genius' draw.

Match 3 was a return to old faces with a Warrior vs Druid matchup. Lourdes started strong with an early draw of 'Dr. Boom, Mad Genius' and good board control. The game went long into fatigue with Lourdes getting over 40 armor and the Bearcats' sloppy play gave Lourdes an easy win in game 3.

In match 4 we saw new faces, with a Priest vs Paladin game. Both teams started strong with good board control on both sides. Lourdes came out with a 'Northshire Cleric' and 'Light Warden' early on. Lourdes 'Light Warden' ramped up and Lourdes won game 4.
