Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Lourdes wraps up its season-opening four-game road trip with a visit to Saint Louis, Mo. Â The Gray Wolves face host Missouri Baptist on Saturday afternoon before battling Saint Mary (Kan.) on Monday afternoon in a neutral site affair.
Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his sixth season on the Lourdes bench,
Patrick Yannarelli has a 52-24 (.684) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. Â Yannarelli was named the NAIA National Coach of the Year in 2016. Â He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes won the only previous contest against Missouri Baptist, 15-9, on May 5, 2016 at the NAIA National Invitational in Greenville, S.C. Â This will be the first meeting between the two schools at one of the team's campuses. Â Lourdes and Saint Mary (Kan.) have never met on the lacrosse field.
Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves opened the season on Saturday with a 12-11 victory on the road at ninth-ranked Saint Ambrose. Â
Nick Johnson scored six times while
Tyler Hart made 11 stops in goal in the victory. Â Lourdes completed the weekend sweep on Sunday with a 15-8 win at Clarke. Â
Blake Alexander found the back of the cage four times while Hart needed to make just three saves in the triumph.
Scouting Missouri Baptist: The Spartans have dropped two consecutive games after falling to Ottawa (Kan.) 17-9 on Saturday afternoon. Â Josh Zion leads the team with six goals while Jaxon Haas has scored five times. Â Alex Todd leads Missouri Baptist with nine total points, including a team-leading six assists. Â In goal, Hunter Filla has played every minute, sporting a 12.33 goals against average and a .351 save percentage.
Scouting Saint Mary (Kan.): The Spires picked up their first win of the season on Feb. 26 against Fontbonne and have been idle ever since. Â Saint Mary hosts Madonna on Saturday before facing Lourdes. Â Tyler French has led the offense with seven goals and eight assists for 15 points while Logan Lund has scored five times. Â Zander Smith has played a majority of the minutes in goal, registering a 14.43 GAA and a .260 save percentage.
Hart Earns WHAC Honors: Following his first weekend of collegiate lacrosse, goalkeeper
Tyler Hart was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Â The freshman made 14 saves, posting a .500 save percentage, while allowing just 14 goals for an 8.00 goals against average.
Newcomers Have Solid Starts: A pair of newcomers have led Lourdes' offense in the first two games. Â Freshman
Nick Johnson has scored a team-high eight times and has nine total points while transfer
Blake Alexander has found the back of the cage five times and tallied eight total points. Â Alexander is also tied for second on the squad with five ground balls.
Winning Faceoffs: Lourdes has won 61.7% of its faceoffs over the first two games. Â
Jake Noel and
Collin Miller both went 9-for-11 at the X in the victory over Clarke.

Among the Career Leaders: Mark O'Bryant has already moved up the ladder in several career stat categories this year. Â He now has 59 total points, tied for seventh all-time at Lourdes, while his 34 goals rank ninth. Â O'Bryant's 25 assists are fifth most in program history.
This and That: Lourdes is 26-12 all-time on the road ... with the win at #9 Saint Ambrose, Lourdes is now 11-9 all-time against NAIA ranked opponents ... nine players made their Gray Wolf debuts on opening weekend ... the Gray Wolves have won their season opener all six seasons the program has been in existence.
