Baseball to Take On Mount Marty and Dordt to Open Spring Break in Tuscon, Arizona

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: Lourdes travels west this week where it will play nine games over the course of the week. The Gray Wolves will meet Mount Marty on Monday evening in doubleheader action before taking on Dordt in a twinbill on Tuesday afternoon.

Head Coach Jeremy Snow: In his third season on the Lourdes bench, Jeremy Snow has a 53-95 (.358) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves, as well as in his career as a collegiate head coach. He is the second head coach in Lourdes program's history. Snow is also the winningest coach in program history.

Probable Starters: Lourdes expects to hand the baseball to Zach Brown (RHP, 0-0, 5.73 ERA) on Monday in the first game of the doubleheader against Mount Marty. Braxton McKart (RHP, 1-0, 3.00 ERA) will handle duties on the bump during game two of the doubleheader. During game one of the twinbill against Dordt on Tuesday, Liam Bloom (RHP, 0-0, 18.00 ERA) is scheduled to make his second appearance of the season as the starter for Lourdes. In game two on Tuesday, Lourdes expects to hand the ball to Kolby Rogge (RHP, 3-7, 8.41 ERA in 2017).

Series Notes: The Gray Wolves will meet both Mount Marty and Dordt for the first time in program history on the baseball diamond.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes battled cold temperatures yet again over the previous two weeks as its contests against Saint Ambrose were cancelled and a twinbill against Goshen was postponed. The Gray Wolves added a pair of games against Grace, sweeping the Lancers in straight games. Lourdes won the first game by a walk-off single from Noah Childress before putting up eight runs in the game two victory.

Scouting Mount Marty: The Lancers are off to a 4-5 start this season but have dropped three straight dating back to February 25. Mount Marty has three games prior to meeting the Gray Wolves on the diamond. Through nine games this season, Colin Muth leads the team with a leads the team hitting .478 and is tied with Donavon West and Reece Mimmack for the lead on the team with 11 hits. Muth has also knocked in a team-best 10 RBI so far this season. On the mound for the Lancers, Blake Svboda has appeared in a team-high 16.0 innings this season, striking out 25 batters. Svboda owns a 5.06 ERA and has started all three games he has appeared in. Jared Bell has also played a significant role on the bump for Mount Marty, striking out 10 batters and three starts. 

Scouting Dordt: Dordt opened the season going 1-2 against Hannibal LaGrange in a three-game series. Through three games, Logan Cline leads the Defenders offensively with a .714 bating overage on 5-of-7 hitting. Cline has also driven home a team-best seven runs this season. Cline, Chris Schrieber and Austin Pullar are the only three defenders to start in all three contests. Isaac Vanderhart was impressive in his lone start and appearance this season, going 5.0 innings , striking out six batters, and posting a 0.00 ERA to earn the lone Dordt victory. 

A Change Of Scenery: After spending the last three seasons traveling south for their spring break trip, Lourdes will travel to Arizona for the first time. The Gray Wolves will play their games at the Kino Sports Complex in Tuscon, Arizona throughout the week.

Best Start In Program History: Through six games this season, Lourdes is off to a hot 5-1 start, a new school-record. The Gray Wolves' previous best start through six games was in 2013, when the squad started the season with a 4-2 record.

All-Time Winningest Coach: Entering their twinbill against Grace earlier this season, head coach Jeremy Snow was one win shy of tying the all-time record for career wins as a coach at Lourdes. Lourdes swept the doubleheader, putting Snow in sole possession of first place on the list. In just three season, Snow has amassed 53 wins at the helm of the program.

Walking Off: In the Gray Wolves first victory over Grace, a seventh inning rally proved to be the difference in the contest. Lourdes trailed 3-2 entering the inning, but two runs capped by a walkoff single from Noah Childress pushed Lourdes to the 4-3 game one victory. 

Swinging The Bat: Through the season's first six games, Cameron Gallo paces the offense with eight hits while batting .471. Gallo, Michael Davis, Cole Cantelon, and Sedrick Gonzalez are all currently hitting at or above the .400 mark. Gallo currently leads the team with three extra base hits, while George Pastor leads the team with eight runs batted in.

This and That: Lourdes is 105-218-1 all-time in its eighth season of baseball .. the Gray Wolves are 50-93 at Mercy Field all-time ... Lourdes has appeared in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament twice in its first seven years as a program ... Lourdes is 2-1 all-time in spring-opening games following a fall series ... conference play begins for the Gray Wolves on Mar. 23 with a twinbill against Cornerstone ... Lourdes is currently 2-0 during the 2019 calendar year.
