Men's Lacrosse Set to Host Concordia (Mich.) This Weekend

#8 Lourdes (5-3, 1-2 WHAC)
Game #9: Saturday, April 6, 1 p.m. EDT
vs. Concordia (Mich.) (2-6, 0-4 WHAC)
Wildcat Stadium - Sylvania, Ohio

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: After a short one-game road trip, the Gray Wolves return home on Saturday afternoon and host Concordia at Wildcat Stadium.

Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his sixth season on the Lourdes bench, Patrick Yannarelli has a 55-27 (.671) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. Yannarelli was named the NAIA National Coach of the Year in 2016.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is 2-0 all-time against Concordia entering Saturday afternoon's contest. The Gray Wolves defeated the Cardinals 19-4 in the first ever meeting in 2017, before picking up an 11-8 victory a season ago. Lourdes is 1-0 all-time against Concordia when playing at Wildcat Stadium.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes suffered back-to-back setbacks last week in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action. The Gray Wolves trailed 6-1 heading into the fourth quarter against Lawrence Tech, but rallied back to tie the game at 8-8 and force overtime. The Blue Devils would net the game-winner in the overtime period to collect the victory. Despite a four-goal effort from Nick Johnson, Lourdes dropped a 15-8 decision at No. 10-ranked Aquinas to wrap up the week.

Scouting Concordia: The Cardinals enter the contest on a four-game skid dating back to a March 23 setback at Indiana Tech. Concordia was edged 13-12 in its most recent contest against Siena Heights. Devin Wolever currently leads the Cardinal offense with 16 while Blake Blaisdell is second on the team with 15 goals. Wolever also ranks first on the team with 10 assists for 26 points. Concordia has had multiple players see time in the cage this season with Austin Kelly handling the bulk of the duties. Kelly leads the team with 81 saves and owns a 11.32 goals against average.

A Valiant Effort: After struggling to find an offensive rhythm against Lawrence Tech for the first three quarters against Lawrence Tech, Lourdes found its way in the final quarter of play. The Gray Wolves outscored the Blue Devils 6-1 in the final stanza of regulation behind four fourth period goals from Blake Alexander to force overtime.

A Young Dynamic Duo: Nick Johnson and Blake Alexander have been a solid one-two punch for the Gray Wolf offense thus far this season. Johnson, a freshman, currently leads the squad with 20 goals while Alexander has netted 18 scores. Johnson and Alexander also rank first and second on the team with 26 and 22 points, respectively.

Handing Out Assists: Chad Causley leads the team with nine assists this season through eight games. Causley has been a part of at least two goals in each of the last four games, notching two assists in each game. The sophomore has also scored six times in those games.

Keys To The Game: Getting the lead early in the contests has proven to be a key to success for Lourdes thus far this season. The Gray Wolves are a perfect 4-0 when leading at the intermission this season. Lourdes has yet to win a game when trailing the opposition at halftime.

Going Deep Into The Roster: Lourdes has had 27 athletes see time on the field so far this season. Of the 27 to see time, 25 have been a part of multiple games for the Gray Wolves.

This and That: Lourdes is 20-7 all-time at home, including 15-4 at Wildcat Stadium ... Nick Johnson, Blake Alexander, and Cory Campbell have all scored in double-digits this season ... Lourdes is outscoring its opponents by a 79-57 margin ... the Gray Wolves are 3-2 all-time in overtime contests.
