Baseball to Host Point Park, Travel to Concordia (Mich.) and Siena Heights This Week

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: Lourdes will step outside of conference play this week as it hosts Point Park on Tuesday afternoon in a pair of seven inning games at Mercy Field. The Gray Wolves then will travel to Concordia for a twinbill on Saturday before making a trip to Siena Heights for a WHAC doubleheader on Sunday. 

Head Coach Jeremy Snow: In his third season on the Lourdes bench, Jeremy Snow has a 60-107 (.359) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves, as well as in his career as a collegiate head coach. He is the second head coach in Lourdes program's history and is the winningest coach in program history.

Probable Starters: The Gray Wolves expect to hand the ball to Max Lojko (1-0, 9 K's, 7.07 ERA) in the first game of the series against Point Park on Tuesday afternoon. Joey Oehlers (0-0, 3 K's, 15.00 ERA) is expected to handle duties on the bump in the nightcap against Point Park. Lourdes has yet to determine starters for its twinbills against Concordia and Siena Heights this weekend.

Series Notes: Lourdes is 0-3 all-time against Point Park in a series that began on March 4, 2012. The teams have not played since the 2016 campaign. Lourdes is 9-17-1 all-time against the Cardinals since their inaugural meeting on April 13, 2012. The Gray Wolves have won two straight in the series. The Gray Wolves are 8-17 all-time against Siena Heights. Lourdes split a twinbill at Siena Heights a season ago.

Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves posted a 3-1 record in their games against Cleary and UM-Dearborn last week. Lourdes picked up a 6-5 victory over the Cougars in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday before falling 11-10 in the nightcap. The Gray Wolves returned home to sweep Michigan-Dearborn 6-5 in 10 innings in game one before picking up a 9-8 victory in the second contest.

Scouting Point Park: The Pioneers have won three straight entering Tuesday's doubleheader. Offensively, Tyler Dobie leads the team with a .388 batting average. Luis Mujico currently leads the offense with 41 hits while Erik Montero owns a team-leading 23 RBI. The Pioneers have seven athletes with at least 26 hits thus far this season. On the mound for Point Park, Ryan Huber is a perfect 7-0 and owns a 2.20 ERA. Huber ranks second on the pitching staff with 35 strikeouts, while Felix Castillo leads the staff with 40 K's.
 
Scouting Concordia: The Cardinals are currently on a three-game skid and will travel to Cleary to take on the Cougars prior to hosting Lourdes. Blaine Milheim currently leads the country, hitting at an impressive .522 clip from the plate. Milheim also has a team-leading 29 RBI and 48 hits. Chris Lowe ranks second on the team with 31 hits. Tyson Kleinfelter leads the pitching staff with a 1.40 ERA, while Grant Steinborn ranks second on the team with a 1.76 ERA. Jimmy McKane owns a 5-2 record on the bump and has fanned a team-best 29 batters.

Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints will host Albion and Cleary and travel to Cornerstone this week prior to hosting Lourdes. Connor McCoy currently leads the offense and ranks fifth in the WHAC, hitting at a .385 clip from the plate. McCoy also leads the team with 40 hits while Logan Nolff leads the team with 28 RBI. Taylor Aquista owns a 5-2 record on the mound for the Saints and a 2.16 ERA. Tristan Roth and Reid Olmstead each have six victories on the bump.

Gaining Ground: Lourdes owns a 5-1 record in its last six games, and has won three straight. The Gray Wolves were ninth in the league standings prior to their string of victories and now ranks seventh in the standings. 

An Offensive Outburst: Brad Ammons has made his presence known offensively for Lourdes as of late. Ammons now has recorded a hit in six straight games and eight of his last nine outings. The sophomore has racked up 18 hits, eight RBI, and 11 runs in his last nine games. He now leads the team with 28 hits.

A Pair Of Firsts: Travis Thompson picked up his first career collegiate victory on the mound in the game one victory over UM-Dearborn on Sunday afternoon. In the nightcap, Joey Oehlers entered in relief and earned his first career collegiate save.

Leading The League: Michael Davis has been a problem for opposing teams on the bases this season. Davis currently leads the conference and ranks 18th nationally with 0.57 stolen bases per contest. Davis in 13-of-16 on stolen base attempts this season.

Tough To Hit Off Of: Zach Brown has been dominant on the mound and proven to be one of the toughest pitchers to hit off of in the league. Brown leads the team and ranks second in the WHAC, as opponents are hitting at just a .196 clip at the plate against the junior.

Constants In The Lineup: Jay Denman and Cameron Gallo have both been mainstays in the Gray Wolf lineup, starting in all 25 games so far for the Gray Wolves this season. George Pastor has started in 24 of the Gray Wolves' 25 contests.

This and That: the Gray Wolves will play their fifth and sixth games in the  last eight contests at home when they host Point Park ... Lourdes has six players hitting .300 or above this season ... Lourdes currently owns a 5-3 record in April.
