Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes returns to Wildcat Stadium for its final home non-conference match of the season on Thursday afternoon as the Gray Wolves entertain Andrews.  On Monday, Lourdes begins a stretch in which the Gray Wolves will play four of their next five matches away from home, traveling to Shawnee State.

Head Coach Matt Johnson: Matt Johnson took over the Lourdes men's soccer program prior to the start of the 2019 season as just the second head coach in program history.  Johnson sports a 76-87-8 (.468) record overall beginning his 10th season as a men's collegiate soccer coach and has a 1-3 (.250) mark at Lourdes.

Series Notes: Lourdes has won both of the previous meetings against Andrews in a series that began Sept. 1, 2016.  The Gray Wolves won the initial meeting in Berrien Springs, Mich. 9-1 before downing the Cardinals at Wildcat Stadium 9-0 on Sept. 17, 2017 in the last contest between the two schools and the only previous match played in Sylvania.  Lourdes and Shawnee State will be meeting for the first time on Monday night.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Goshen scored the lone goal of the match with 6:15 remaining in the first half last Wednesday (Sept. 4) as the Maple Leafs defeated the Gray Wolves 1-0 in Goshen, Ind.  Goshen outshot Lourdes 11-8 for the match, including 7-3 on goal.  Jorge Mendoza made six saves in goal for the Gray Wolves.

Scouting Andrews: The Cardinals have dropped two straight matches after falling 1-0 at Grace Christian on Tuesday evening.  David Avelar leads Andrews with five goals and three assists for 13 total points this season while Gabriel Palacios has added three goals and two helpers for eight points.  In goal, Marcelo Mansur has played all 360 minutes for the Cardinals, and sports a 1.75 goals against average and a .800 save percentage.

Scouting Shawnee State: The Bears enter the week having won three straight matches following a 4-0 shutout win at Bluffton on Saturday (Sept. 7).  Shawnee State hosts West Virginia Tech on Wednesday and travels to Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday before entertaining Lourdes.  Kevin de Lange leads the Bears in scoring with six goals and three assists for 15 total points.  Bruno Rovares has eight points with three tallies and two helpers.  In goal, Kade Tomlinson has played all 365 minutes thus far this season and sports a 1.48 goals against average and a .793 save percentage.

Low Scoring Affairs: Lourdes has been involved in numerous low scoring matches thus far this season, with three of the contests resulting in 1-0 decisions.  The Gray Wolves have scored just three times this season, but the defense has been stingy, yielding just five goals in the four matches.

Amoo Early Scoring Leader: Farouk Amoo has scored two of the three goals for the Gray Wolves this season, tallying four total points.  One of his two tallies was the match-winner for the Gray Wolves at Ohio Christian.

Unlucky in Overtime: Lourdes has already played a pair of overtime matches this season, falling to both Taylor and Indiana East when extended beyond 90 minutes.  All-time, the Gray Wolves are 1-4-6 in overtime matches, with the lone victory coming on Aug. 28, 2015 at Grace Bible in the first match in program history.

Solid Goalkeeping: Lourdes has three goalkeepers on the roster this season, and all three have seen action in the first four matches.  Jorge Mendoza has started two matches and sports a 0.93 goals against average and a .818 save percentage.  Ali Chokr made eight stops in a clean sheet at Ohio Christian while Garrett Baxley made his 2019 debut against Indiana East, yielding three goals while making three saves in an overtime effort.

Playing Lots of Matches: Lourdes has three players that have appeared in at least 30 matches all-time for the Gray Wolves.  Senior Reece Riccardi is tied for third all-time in program history having played in 45 contests, three shy of Akilla Arno's (2015-2017) school record of 48.  Riccardi's 37 starts also are tied for third in Lourdes history.  Tyler Rogers and Olawole Ogunsanya have both stepped onto the field 34 times, tied for eighth most ever at Lourdes.

In the Record Book: Reece Riccardi has passed Haggi Amirally (2016-2017) for third place alone in Lourdes history with his nine career goals. He also is passed Adilson Darosa (2015, 2017) for third all-time with 21 career points. Riccardi's 55 career shot attempts are fourth most ever at Lourdes while Tyler Rogers is tied for 10th with 31 career shots.

Captain: Reece Riccardi will serve as the Gray Wolves lone captain for the 2019 season. This will mark his second season in a leadership role for the Gray Wolves.
