Lourdes (2-4, 0-0 WHAC)
Match #7: Monday, September 23, 6 p.m. EDT
at Kalamazoo (4-1-1, 0-0 MIAA)
MacKenzie Field - Kalamazoo, Mich.

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes closes out the non-conference portion of the 2019 schedule on Monday evening as the Gray Wolves conclude their brief two-match road trip.  The Gray Wolves head to Kalamazoo to battle the NCAA Division III Hornets.

Head Coach Matt Johnson: Matt Johnson took over the Lourdes men's soccer program prior to the start of the 2019 season as just the second head coach in program history.  Johnson sports a 77-88-8 (.468) record overall beginning his 10th season as a men's collegiate soccer coach and has a 2-4 (.333) mark at Lourdes.

Series Notes: Lourdes and Kalamazoo are meeting on the pitch for the first time on Monday evening.  In fact, the Hornets are the first team the Gray Wolves have ever faced from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

Wrapping Up Last Week (Plus): The Lourdes offense exploded for four goals on Thursday, Sept. 12 as the Gray Wolves defeated Andrews at home 4-0.  Darius Passley-Bennett scored three times and Farouk Amoo added a tally while N'Faly Diallo handed out three assists.  Garrett Baxley registered a clean sheet in goal.  On Monday (Sept. 16), Lourdes suffered a 3-0 setback on the road at Shawnee State.  Ali Chokr made six stops between the posts for the Gray Wolves.

Scouting Kalamazoo: The Hornets are unbeaten in their last four matches and have won two straight after downing Elmhurst 1-0 on Wednesday.  Kalamazoo hosts North Park on Saturday before entertaining Lourdes.  Ben Meschke leads the Hornets in scoring with six goals and 12 points while Dahwi Kim has two goals.  Gold Afolabi has a team-high three assists.  In goal, Luke Kastran and Sean Ellis have shared the majority of the time.  Kastran sports a 0.27 goals against average and a .950 save percentage while Ellis has a 0.82 GAA and a .857 save mark.

Passley-Bennett Earns WHAC Honors: Darius Passley-Bennett was named the WHAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 16 for his efforts in the win over Andrews.  The junior transfer scored three times in his debut for the Gray Wolves, including a pair of goals just 1:14 apart.  Passley-Bennett scored the match-winner among his tallies.

Quite the Debut: After missing the first four matches of the season, Darius Passley-Bennett burst onto the pitch midway through the Andrews match.  The junior scored less than a minute after touching the field, and added a second goal just 1:14 later.  Passley-Bennett concluded the day with a third tally to notch just the sixth hat trick in Gray Wolf program history.

Amoo Maintains Scoring Lead: Farouk Amoo continues to share the top spot in the scoring column for the Gray Wolves.  The redshirt-junior scored for the third time this season in the match against Andrews and shares the scoring lead with Darius Passley-Bennett, each of whom have six points.  Amoo was credited with the match-winning goal at Ohio Christian.

Diallo Dishes Out Assists: N'Faly Diallo recorded his first three collegiate points against Andrews with assists on each of the Gray Wolves' first three goals.  Diallo is the fourth Lourdes player in program history to have at least three assists in a match, and was one shy of the school record.

Baxley Earns First Career Shutout: Garrett Baxley earned the first clean sheet of his career against Andrews in the 4-0 victory.  The sophomore was never tested in the contest, earning the clean sheet without making a save in the match.

Strong Defense: The Lourdes defense yielded just one total shot attempt against Andrews on Sept. 12, none of which were on goal.  For the season, the Gray Wolf back line has yielded just 61 total shots (10.2 per match), with only a total of 35 shots on goal.

Lots of Shots: Lourdes registered 34 shot attempts in the match against Andrews, the third highest single match total in program history.  The Gray Wolves were well shy of the school record of 82 shot attempts set against Great Lakes Christian on Sept. 7, 2016.

Playing Lots of Matches: Lourdes has three players that have appeared in at least 30 matches all-time for the Gray Wolves.  Senior Reece Riccardi is tied for third all-time in program history having played in 45 contests, three shy of Akilla Arno's (2015-2017) school record of 48.  Riccardi's 37 starts also are tied for third in Lourdes history.  Tyler Rogers and Olawole Ogunsanya have both stepped onto the field 36 times, tied for seventh most ever at Lourdes.

In the Record Book: Reece Riccardi has passed Haggi Amirally (2016-2017) for third place alone in Lourdes history with his nine career goals. He also is passed Adilson Darosa (2015, 2017) for third all-time with 21 career points. Riccardi's 55 career shot attempts are fourth most ever at Lourdes while Tyler Rogers is seventh with 34 career shots.

Captain: Reece Riccardi will serve as the Gray Wolves lone captain for the 2019 season. This will mark his second season in a leadership role for the Gray Wolves.

This and That: Lourdes is 13-24-1 all-time in road matches ... seven different players have registered at least one point this season ... the Gray Wolves are outshooting their opponents 99-61 ... Lourdes has managed just two first half goals this year.
