Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes closes out the non-conference portion of the 2019 schedule on Monday evening as the Gray Wolves conclude their brief two-match road trip. Â The Gray Wolves head to Kalamazoo to battle the NCAA Division III Hornets.
Head Coach Matt Johnson: Matt Johnson took over the Lourdes men's soccer program prior to the start of the 2019 season as just the second head coach in program history. Â Johnson sports a 77-88-8 (.468) record overall beginning his 10th season as a men's collegiate soccer coach and has a 2-4 (.333) mark at Lourdes.
Series Notes: Lourdes and Kalamazoo are meeting on the pitch for the first time on Monday evening. Â In fact, the Hornets are the first team the Gray Wolves have ever faced from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
Wrapping Up Last Week (Plus): The Lourdes offense exploded for four goals on Thursday, Sept. 12 as the Gray Wolves defeated Andrews at home 4-0. Â

Garrett Baxley registered a clean sheet in goal. Â On Monday (Sept. 16), Lourdes suffered a 3-0 setback on the road at Shawnee State. Â
Ali Chokr made six stops between the posts for the Gray Wolves.
Scouting Kalamazoo: The Hornets are unbeaten in their last four matches and have won two straight after downing Elmhurst 1-0 on Wednesday. Â Kalamazoo hosts North Park on Saturday before entertaining Lourdes. Â Ben Meschke leads the Hornets in scoring with six goals and 12 points while Dahwi Kim has two goals. Â Gold Afolabi has a team-high three assists. Â In goal, Luke Kastran and Sean Ellis have shared the majority of the time. Â Kastran sports a 0.27 goals against average and a .950 save percentage while Ellis has a 0.82 GAA and a .857 save mark.
Passley-Bennett Earns WHAC Honors: Darius Passley-Bennett was named the WHAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 16 for his efforts in the win over Andrews. Â The junior transfer scored three times in his debut for the Gray Wolves, including a pair of goals just 1:14 apart. Â Passley-Bennett scored the match-winner among his tallies.
Quite the Debut: After missing the first four matches of the season,
Darius Passley-Bennett burst onto the pitch midway through the Andrews match. Â The junior scored less than a minute after touching the field, and added a second goal just 1:14 later. Â Passley-Bennett concluded the day with a third tally to notch just the sixth hat trick in Gray Wolf program history.
Amoo Maintains Scoring Lead: Farouk Amoo continues to share the top spot in the scoring column for the Gray Wolves. Â The redshirt-junior scored for the third time this season in the match against Andrews and shares the scoring lead with
Darius Passley-Bennett, each of whom have six points. Â Amoo was credited with the match-winning goal at Ohio Christian.
Diallo Dishes Out Assists: N'Faly Diallo recorded his first three collegiate points against Andrews with assists on each of the Gray Wolves' first three goals. Â Diallo is the fourth Lourdes player in program history to have at least three assists in a match, and was one shy of the school record.
Baxley Earns First Career Shutout: Garrett Baxley earned the first clean sheet of his career against Andrews in the 4-0 victory. Â The sophomore was never tested in the contest, earning the clean sheet without making a save in the match.
Strong Defense: The Lourdes defense yielded just one total shot attempt against Andrews on Sept. 12, none of which were on goal. Â For the season, the Gray Wolf back line has yielded just 61 total shots (10.2 per match), with only a total of 35 shots on goal.
Lots of Shots: Lourdes registered 34 shot attempts in the match against Andrews, the third highest single match total in program history. Â The Gray Wolves were well shy of the school record of 82 shot attempts set against Great Lakes Christian on Sept. 7, 2016.
Playing Lots of Matches: Lourdes has three players that have appeared in at least 30 matches all-time for the Gray Wolves. Â Senior
Reece Riccardi is tied for third all-time in program history having played in 45 contests, three shy of
Akilla Arno's (2015-2017) school record of 48. Â Riccardi's 37 starts also are tied for third in Lourdes history. Â
Tyler Rogers and
Olawole Ogunsanya have both stepped onto the field 36 times, tied for seventh most ever at Lourdes.
In the Record Book: Reece Riccardi has passed Haggi Amirally (2016-2017) for third place alone in Lourdes history with his nine career goals. He also is passed
Adilson Darosa (2015, 2017) for third all-time with 21 career points. Riccardi's 55 career shot attempts are fourth most ever at Lourdes while
Tyler Rogers is seventh with 34 career shots.
Captain: Reece Riccardi will serve as the Gray Wolves lone captain for the 2019 season. This will mark his second season in a leadership role for the Gray Wolves.
This and That: Lourdes is 13-24-1 all-time in road matches ... seven different players have registered at least one point this season ... the Gray Wolves are outshooting their opponents 99-61 ... Lourdes has managed just two first half goals this year.
