LEAGUE OF LEGENDS
Box Score
Game 1:
Lourdes Esports opened their GLEC campaign with a match against Tiffin's League of Legends team. The first match started out well for the Gray Wolves, with freshman
Nathan Talbot finding first blood against the opposing top laner four minutes into the game. Lourdes seemed to control the lead, using the two kills ADC
Gavin Cale picked up in a mid-game team fight to then pick up three towers and a dragon in the next few minutes. Despite being down 3.3k gold lead late into the game, the Dragons were able to turn it around by winning two crucial late-game team fights to take Game 1.
Â
The second game proved to be a more difficult matchup for Lourdes. The Gray Wolves were able to find the first pick with
Tori Benson taking out the opposing support. With the exception of a double kill by
Nick Ward around the twelve-minute mark, success was hard to come by for Lourdes, as Tiffin's ADC finished the game with 9 kills and 2 deaths. Lourdes was able to destroy each of Tiffin's outer lane turrets, but the Dragons destroyed Lourdes's base at the 34-minute mark.

Temple of Anubis:
Lourdes's Overwatch team opened their season with conference matchup against Trine University. Having map selection, the Gray Wolves opted to choose the assault map 'Temple of Anubis'. Despite damage player
Jorge Mendoza eliminating Trine's flex support, the Thunder managed to take the first point. The opposition immediately seized the opportunity to rush to the second point. While Lourdes defense was set, the Thunder were able to take point B after using a couple crucial ultimates. The Gray Wolves attempted their attack, but getting to the first point proved difficult for Lourdes. Trine and their double shield composition held the Gray Wolves at bay, stopping them from taking the first point, and giving the Thunder a 2-0 win.
Â
Junkertown:
The next map chosen was the escort map Junkertown. Again, Lourdes started on defense and sought to stop Trine from pushing it all the way to the end of the map. After difficult fights on points A and B, the Gray Wolves, led by main tank,
Jimmy Baye, won an important team fight on point three to slow the Thunder down. Despite Lourdes' effort, Trine would not be stopped as they then won the next fight to finish the map. On Lourdes's turn to attack, they tried a double barrier composition of their own. However, Trine's heavy damage composition prevented the Gray Wolves from taking point A, granting Trine a 3-0 victory in game two, and an overall 2-0 decision.
