Match #8: Saturday, September 28, 3 p.m. EDT
vs. Michigan-Dearborn (1-3, 0-0 WHAC)
Wildcat Stadium - Sylvania, Ohio

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes returns to Wildcat Stadium for its lone home match in a four-week span on Saturday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves host Michigan-Dearborn.  The Gray Wolves will also be playing their Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener against the Wolverines.

Head Coach Matt Johnson: Matt Johnson took over the Lourdes men's soccer program prior to the start of the 2019 season as just the second head coach in program history.  Johnson sports a 77-89-8 (.466) record overall beginning his 10th season as a men's collegiate soccer coach and has a 2-5 (.286) mark at Lourdes.

Series Notes: Lourdes holds a 3-1 all-time series advantage against Michigan-Dearborn dating back to Oct. 3, 2015.  The Gray Wolves have won two straight in the series after downing the Wolverines 1-0 in Riverview, Mich. last season.  Michigan-Dearborn won the only previous meeting at Wildcat Stadium, a 2-1 triumph in 2016.

Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves closed out non-conference action on Monday evening, suffering a 2-0 setback at Kalamazoo.  The Hornets scored in the first two minutes of the match before adding an insurance tally midway through the second stanza.  Garrett Baxley made five saves between the posts for Lourdes.

Scouting Michigan-Dearborn: The Wolverines enter the WHAC opener looking to snap a two-match losing skid.  Michigan-Dearborn has been idle since Sept. 14 when the Wolverines fell 2-1 at Adrian.  Jacob Drzyzga leads Michigan-Dearborn in scoring with three points on the year, having tallied a goal and an assist.  Seven different Wolverines have found the back of the net thus far this year, accounting for all seven goals.  Obaidah Shaherli scored the match-winner against Olivet.  In goal, Brian Ostapenko has played all but 45 minutes this season.  He sports a 2.57 goals against average and a .625 save percentage.

WHAC Openers: Lourdes is 2-1-1 all-time in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference openers.  Last season, the Gray Wolves began WHAC play with a 1-0 victory at Michigan-Dearborn.  Lourdes has won two straight conference openers after downing Rochester (Mich.) to begin the 2017 season as well.  The Gray Wolves have not lost a league opener since their first WHAC match ever in 2015.

Among the Nation's Shot Leaders: Farouk Amoo ranks 29th among all NAIA players averaging 4.14 shots per match thus far this season.  The redshirt-junior has tallied 29 total shots in seven matches, 12 of which have been on goal.

Sharing Time in Goal: Lourdes has rotated all three goalkeepers throughout the non-conference portion of the schedule.  Jorge Mendoza has posted a 0.93 goals against average and a .818 save percentage while Ali Chokr has notched a 1.50 GAA and a .824 save mark in two starts each.  Garrett Baxley has started three matches and sports a 1.66 GAA and a .615 save percentage.

Tandem Lead the Offense: Farouk Amoo and Darius Passley-Bennett have combined for six of the Gray Wolves' seven goals this season.  Both players have found the back of the net three times this year, and each has one of the two match-winning goals.

Diallo Dishes Out Assists: N'Faly Diallo continues to lead Lourdes in assists this season, having handed out half of the Gray Wolves' total.  Diallo has three helpers in the six matches in which he has played.

Shutouts a Common Occurrence: Six of the Gray Wolves' seven matches this season have resulted in a clean sheet for one side or the other.  Lourdes has notched a pair of shutouts defensively while opponents have kept the Gray Wolves off the scoreboard four times this year.

Playing Lots of Matches: Lourdes has three players that have appeared in at least 30 matches all-time for the Gray Wolves.  Senior Reece Riccardi is third all-time in program history having played in 46 contests, two shy of Akilla Arno's (2015-2017) school record of 48.  Riccardi's 38 starts also are tied for second in Lourdes history.  Tyler Rogers and Olawole Ogunsanya have both stepped onto the field 37 times, tied for sixth most ever at Lourdes.

In the Record Book: Reece Riccardi has passed Haggi Amirally (2016-2017) for third place alone in Lourdes history with his nine career goals. He also is passed Adilson Darosa (2015, 2017) for third all-time with 21 career points. Riccardi's 55 career shot attempts are fourth most ever at Lourdes while Tyler Rogers is seventh with 34 career shots.

Captain: Reece Riccardi will serve as the Gray Wolves lone captain for the 2019 season. This will mark his second season in a leadership role for the Gray Wolves.

This and That: Lourdes has had 18 different players draw starting assignments this season ... every field player that has stepped on the pitch has attempted at least one shot ... the Gray Wolves are 1-1 at home this season and 10-18-4 all-time at Wildcat Stadium.
