Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes returns to the road this week for a pair of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matches.  The Gray Wolves face Indiana Tech on Wednesday evening before heading north to battle Rochester (Mich.) in a Saturday matinee.

Head Coach Matt Johnson: Matt Johnson took over the Lourdes men's soccer program prior to the start of the 2019 season as just the second head coach in program history.  Johnson sports a 77-90-8 (.463) record overall beginning his 10th season as a men's collegiate soccer coach and has a 2-6 (.250) mark at Lourdes.

Series Notes: Indiana Tech holds a 1-2-1 series edge over Lourdes dating back to Oct. 17, 2015.  Last season the two schools battled to a scoreless draw at Wildcat Stadium.  The Warriors won the only previous meeting in Fort Wayne, Ind. by a 4-2 score during the 2016 campaign.  Lourdes and Rochester (Mich.) have split their first two meetings in a series which began Sept. 23, 2017.  Last season the Warriors scored a 3-2 overtime victory over the Gray Wolves at Wildcat Stadium.  Lourdes won the only previous meeting in Pontiac, Mich., 4-0, in the first meeting ever between the two sides.

Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves closed out non-conference action last Monday evening, suffering a 2-0 setback at Kalamazoo.  Garrett Baxley made five saves between the posts for Lourdes.  Lourdes opened WHAC play on Saturday afternoon at home, falling 2-1 to Michigan-Dearborn.  Andris Klempert put the Gray Wolves in front in the 57th minute, but the Wolverines responded with a pair of goals less than nine minutes apart.  Baxley had three stops in goal for Lourdes in the loss.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors have won three of their last four matches after defeating Aquinas 7-2 to open WHAC play on Saturday.  Noe Garcia and Maxwell Amoako share the team lead with 11 points on the season, having each scored five times while adding an assist.  Pep Casa has three goals and a helper for seven total points.  In goal, Edwin Rosado has posted a 1.39 goals against average and a .750 save percentage.

Scouting Rochester (Mich.): The Warriors enter the week having fallen 3-0 at Northwestern Ohio last Friday to open WHAC action and play at Siena Heights on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes.  Dominik Nikaj leads Rochester in scoring on the season, having tallied two goals and added two assists for six points.  In goal, Sam Manuvelpillai has played 425 of the 560 minutes for the Warriors, sporting a 1.69 goals against average and a .714 save percentage.

Klempert Nets First Career Goal: Andris Klempert scored his first collegiate goal on Saturday afternoon to give the Gray Wolves the lead against Michigan-Dearborn.  The freshman from Germany became just the fourth Lourdes player to find the back of the net this season.

Lending a Foot: Josh Varney handed out his second assist of the season on Andris Klempert's goal Saturday.  Varney's first career point came via an assist against Andrews back on Sept. 12.

Ready for a Homestand: Following the two matches on the road this week, Lourdes will return home to Wildcat Stadium for six of its final eight contests beginning on Oct. 9 against Cleary.

Among the Nation's Shot Leaders: Farouk Amoo ranks 30th among all NAIA players averaging 4.00 shots per match thus far this season.  The redshirt-junior has tallied 32 total shots in eight matches, 12 of which have been on goal.

Tandem Lead the Offense: Farouk Amoo and Darius Passley-Bennett have combined for six of the Gray Wolves' seven goals this season.  Both players have found the back of the net three times this year, and each has one of the two match-winning goals.

Diallo Dishes Out Assists: N'Faly Diallo continues to lead Lourdes in assists this season, having handed out half of the Gray Wolves' total.  Diallo has three helpers in the six matches in which he has played.

Playing Lots of Matches: Lourdes has three players that have appeared in at least 30 matches all-time for the Gray Wolves.  Senior Reece Riccardi is tied for second all-time in program history having played in 47 contests, one shy of Akilla Arno's (2015-2017) school record of 48.  Riccardi's 39 starts also are second in Lourdes history.  Tyler Rogers and Olawole Ogunsanya have both stepped onto the field 38 times, tied for sixth most ever at Lourdes.

In the Record Book: Reece Riccardi has passed Haggi Amirally (2016-2017) for third place alone in Lourdes history with his nine career goals. He also is passed Adilson Darosa (2015, 2017) for third all-time with 21 career points. Riccardi's 58 career shot attempts are fourth most ever at Lourdes while Tyler Rogers is seventh with 36 career shots.

Captain: Reece Riccardi will serve as the Gray Wolves lone captain for the 2019 season. This will mark his second season in a leadership role for the Gray Wolves.

This and That: Lourdes has had 18 different players draw starting assignments this season ... every field player that has stepped on the pitch has attempted at least one shot ... seven different Gray Wolves have tallied at least one point this year.
