Lourdes Picks up League of Legends Win

Gray Wolves Sweep Aquinas

Box Score:

The Lourdes's League of Legends team opened up their College League of Legends season with a 2-0 victory over GLEC conference opponent Aquinas. This was a reversal of earlier in the season when Aquinas defeated Lourdes 2-0 back in November.

Game one was a strong win for the Gray Wolves as they finished the game with 18 kills to 2 deaths, setting a season-low for deaths in a game. The team was led by return mid-laner Jacob Stell as he posted a KDA of 10/0/5, eliminating the opposing mid-laner five times throughout the game. While there were few large-scale team fights, Lourdes kept consistent pressure on the Saints, slowing taking objectives until they were strong enough to a team fight at 24 minutes before ultimately taking the game at the 30 minute mark.

Game two was an closer match between the two as the Gray Wolves found themselves behind in eliminations throughout most of the match. However, a fight at the thirty-one minute mark in which Gavin Cale – in his first competitive match as jungler – found a double kill, helped Lourdes out-eliminate the Saints 10-2 over the last five minutes. This snowballed into a fast ending for a game that was unnaturally slow, as the first turret wasn't taken until 24 minutes in.

Next up the Gray Wolves face Trine in their first GLEC match of the spring semester on Tuesday at 7:30pm.
