Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes begins a two-match road trip heading into the stretch run of the fall slate on Saturday as the Gray Wolves travel to Southfield, Mich. to battle Lawrence Tech in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action. Â The Gray Wolves are looking to snap a two-match losing skid.
Head Coach Matt Johnson: Matt Johnson took over as the second head coach in program's history prior to the 2019 season. Â Johnson sports an 84-99-8 (.461) record overall in his 11th season as a men's collegiate soccer coach and has a 9-15 (.375) mark in his second year at Lourdes.
Series Notes: Lawrence Tech leads the all-time series against Lourdes 4-1 dating back to Oct. 3, 2015. Â The Blue Devils have won the last four matches in the series, including a 1-0 double-overtime victory last season at Wildcat Stadium. Â Lawrence Tech is 2-0 all-time against the Gray Wolves in Southfield, Mich.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Brendon Long scored following a corner kick from
Andris Klempert less than six minutes into the match to put Lourdes in front last Saturday (Oct. 10), but Siena Heights responded with a pair of goals before halftime on the way to a 2-1 victory over the Gray Wolves in Adrian, Mich. Â
Ali Chokr made six saves in net for Lourdes in the setback. Â On Tuesday night,
Savio Adams put Lourdes on top before halftime, but Olivet Nazarene tallied three second half goals to register a 3-1 non-conference win over the Gray Wolves. Â
Garrett Baxley made seven stops in goal for Lourdes in his first start of the season.
Scouting Lawrence Tech: The Blue Devils are looking for back-to-back victories for the first time this season against Lourdes after defeating Trine 4-0 in non-conference action on Wednesday night. Â Kean Lam leads Lawrence Tech in scoring this year with three goals while Jaden King has added a pair. Â Five different Blue Devils have one assist this season. Â In goal, Riley Alexander has posted a 1.00 goals against average and a .625 save percentage to go along with a shutout while playing all 270 minutes between the posts.
Fast Starts: Lourdes has scored the first goal of the match in five of its six contests this season, with the lone exception coming at Rio Grande when the Gray Wolves were shutout 2-0. Â Lourdes has held a halftime lead or been tied in four of the contests. Â The Gray Wolves have scored seven of their nine goals in the opening 45 minutes this year.
A One-Two Punch: Savio Adams and
Brendon Long accounted for the two goals for the Gray Wolves over the past week and have now scored seven of the nine tallies for Lourdes this season. Â Adams has three goals and three assists for a team-leading nine points while Long has four goals and eight points. Â
Farouk Amoo and
Robert Pereznegron have accounted for the two other goals for the Gray Wolves this year.
Chokr Matches School Shutout Mark: Ali Chokr tied the Lourdes record with his seventh career shutout against Cornerstone earlier this fall, matching the mark set by
Jose Cedillo (2015-2017). Â Chokr had two clean sheets as a freshman, three last year, and already has a pair in four starts this season.
Elsewhere on the All-Time Charts: Ali Chokr also ranks second in program history in minutes played in goal, saves, and goals against average. Â Chokr enters this week's action with 150 career saves, 24 shy of
Jose Cedillo's (2015-2017) mark of 174 and his 1.90 career goals against average just trails Cedillo's all-time mark of 1.69. Â Chokr is also approximately 640 minutes shy of Cedillo's minutes played mark of 3192:12.

Moving Into the Top-10: With his goal against Olivet Nazarene,
Savio Adams has moved into a tie for eighth with Isamnia Coehn (2016) having scored six career goals with the Gray Wolves. Â
Farouk Amoo and
Brendon Long are among five players tied for 10th all-time at Lourdes with five career goals.
Season and Collegiate Debuts: Garrett Baxley made his first appearance of the year in goal at Siena Heights, playing the final 17 minutes before drawing a starting assignment Tuesday versus Olivet Nazarene. Â
Ali Baydoun made his collegiate debut at Siena Heights while
Trey Cruz stepped on the field as a collegian for the first time against Olivet Nazarene.
Lots of Experience: Olawole Ogunsanya moved into second place alone in program history having appeared in 49 career matches after drawing a starting assignment in the season opener at Point Park. Â He trails only
Reece Riccardi (2016-2019), who appeared in 57 matches, on the Gray Wolves' all-time list. Â
Jose Silveira has moved into seventh all-time for the Gray Wolves, having stepped onto the pitch 43 times for Lourdes, two behind
Judah Goodridge's (2015-2017) sixth place mark. Â
Brendon Long has moved into third place all-time at Lourdes having made 40 career starts. Â He is one behind Goodridge for second all-time.
A Different Look This Season: Due to COVID-19, five schools in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference have opted to not play soccer this fall, moving all of their matches to the spring. Â The remaining seven league schools will play a split season, competing in five WHAC matches in the fall and six in the spring. Â The WHAC tournament and NAIA National Championships will take place in the spring.
A Look Ahead to Spring: When the Gray Wolves resume play in the spring, they will host Indiana Tech and Madonna in WHAC play while traveling to Northwestern Ohio, Cleary, and Aquinas. Â Lourdes would also travel to Michigan-Dearborn if they resume athletic competition by March.Â
Team Captains: Lourdes has tri-captains for the 2020 season. Â Serving in the Gray Wolves' leadership role are seniors
Savio Adams and
Jose Silveira along with junior
Cameron Poslaiko. Â All three are first time captains for Lourdes.
This and That: Lourdes has had 26 different players step foot on the pitch already this year ... 18 different players have drawn a starting assignment.
