Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: As the 2020 baseball season begins at Lourdes University, the Gray Wolves open their ninth season of intercollegiate competition with a four-game weekend series against Rio Grande in Chillicothe, Ohio. The Gray Wolves and Red Storm will play doubleheaders on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
Head Coach Josh Bradford: In his first season in the Lourdes dugout,
Josh Bradford has a 0-0 (.000) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves, as well as in his career as a collegiate head coach. He is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Probable Starters: Lourdes expects to hand the baseball to
Braxton McKart (RHP, 2-1, 4.94 in 2019) for Saturday's first game of the first game of the doubleheader against Rio Grande. Game two's probable is
Zach Brown (RHP, 3-2, 3.38 in 2019). On Sunday,
Kolby Rogge (RHP, 1-4, 7.50 in 2019) will take the mound in game one followed by newcomer
Zack Banks (RHP).
Series Notes: Lourdes and Rio Grande will be meeting on the baseball diamond for the first time ever this weekend.
Wrapping Up Last Season: Lourdes finished the 2019 campaign 15-24 overall and 9-13 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, finishing in ninth place.

Cameron Gallo all earned Second Team All-WHAC honors for the Gray Wolves.
Jay Denman was named to both the ABCA-Rawlings NAIA and WHAC Gold Glove Team for his play in left field.
Scouting Rio Grande: The Red Storm are playing for the third consecutive weekend to start the season, but are still looking for their first win of the season. Eli Daniels is batting a team-leading .444 with three home runs and six runs batted in. As a team Rio Grande is batting .186 while the pitching staff sports an 11.00 earned run average.
Gray Wolves Tabbed Seventh in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was picked to finish seventh in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference in the 2020 preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. The Gray Wolves were slotted just behind Michigan-Dearborn and just ahead of Aquinas. Indiana Tech was picked as the preseason favorite.
Lourdes in Season Openers: The Gray Wolves are 3-5 all-time in season openers, having won last year's first contest 11-6 against Spring Arbor. Lourdes has won two straight season openers. This year will mark just the second time the Gray Wolves open at a neutral site, having also began the 2016 season in Auburndale, Fla. against Cleary.
Among the NAIA Best: Lourdes finished eighth in the NAIA with 20 total triples during the 2019 season.
Cameron Gallo and
Corey Righman both had three three-baggers to lead the way.
Individual National Leaders: Jay Denman led the NAIA with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage last season on the way to earning the Gold Glove award. In addition,
Zach Brown ranked 10th among all pitchers allowing just 5.72 hits per nine innings while opponents batted just .181 against him.
Last Year's Offensive Leaders: Cameron Gallo led Lourdes in batting during the 2019 season, hitting .344 with three home runs and 30 runs batted in.
Brad Ammons and
Noah Childress both posted .330 batting averages while
Jay Denman hit .295 with a team-high 10 doubles.
2019 Pitching Leaders: Zach Brown led the pitching staff with a 3-2 record in a team-leading 61.1 innings of work last season. Brown had a 3.38 earned run average and limited opposing hitters to just a .181 batting average while striking out 72.
Braxton McKart had a 2-1 record with a 4.94 ERA in five starts in 2019. Out of the bullpen,
Travis Thompson logged 18.2 innings and posted a 1.45 ERA with 20 strikeouts while earning one of the team's three saves.
Streaking: Cameron Gallo enters the season with the longest active hitting streak carrying over from the 2019 season. The senior enters 2020 having hit safely in three straight games.
Lengthy Road Trip: Lourdes opens the 2020 season playing 20 consecutive games away from Mercy Field, including opening WHAC play with a pair of doubleheaders to wrap up the road trip. The Gray Wolves open the home portion of the schedule on March 25 against Grace.
This and That: Lourdes is 115-241-1 all-time entering its ninth season of baseball ... the Gray Wolves are 22-31 all-time in neutral site games ... Lourdes is 12-13 in extra inning contests after going 1-1 one season ago.
