Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: After a four-game sweep during opening weekend followed by two weeks off, Lourdes returns to the diamond for a four-game series at Georgetown (Ky.) this weekend. The Gray Wolves and Tigers will play a pair of noon doubleheaders on both Friday and Saturday.
Head Coach Josh Bradford: In his first season in the Lourdes dugout,
Josh Bradford has a 4-0 (1.000) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves, as well as in his career as a collegiate head coach. He is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Probable Starters: Lourdes expects to hand the baseball to
Braxton McKart (RHP, 1-0, 1.50) for Friday's first game of the doubleheader against Georgetown. Game two's probable is
Kolby Rogge (RHP, 1-0, 1.35). On Saturday,
Zack Banks (RHP, 0-0, 9.00) will take the mound in game one while the game two starter has yet to be determined.
Series Notes: Georgetown is 6-0 all-time against Lourdes in a series that began Feb. 24, 2012, with all six games taking place in Georgetown, Ky. The Gray Wolves and Tigers have not met since March 10, 2014, when Georgetown swept a doubleheader from Lourdes by scores of 6-2 and 2-1.
Wrapping Up Last Week (or Two Weeks Ago): Lourdes opened the 2020 season on Feb. 15 with a sweep of Rio Grande by scores of 8-1 and 15-11.
Harrison Jackson hit for the cycle in the opener with
Braxton McKart getting the win. In game two,
Brad Ammons drove home four runs while
Max Lojko picked up the victory in relief. The Gray Wolves swept another doubleheader from the Red Storm on Feb. 16, winning 6-4 and 16-14 in nine innings. Jackson had two RBI in game while
Kolby Rogge earned the victory on the hill. In game two, the Gray Wolves allowed nine runs in the bottom of the seventh as Rio Grande forced extra innings, but plated two in the ninth to earn the win. Lojko picked up his second victory of the weekend in relief.
Scouting Georgetown (Ky.): The Tigers have dropped two of their last three games following a five-game winning streak after suffering a 9-8 setback at Asbury on Tuesday. Georgetown is batting .264 as a team this season, led by Brandon Krennrich, who is hitting .433 with a team-leading nine runs batted in. The Tigers pitching staff sports a 5.13 earned run average, with Keon Taylor leading the way with a 1-2 record and a 3.21 ERA. Opponents are hitting just .189 against Taylor.
Quite the Start: Lourdes is off to a 4-0 start for the first time in program history. The Gray Wolves went 3-1 to open the year in both 2018 and 2019, with the 2019 squad posting a 5-1 record through six games.
Quite a Debut: Harrison Jackson was named the NCBWA Rookie of the Week after batting .556 with 10 hits, a home run, and five runs batted in during his first four collegiate games. Jackson hit for the cycle in his collegiate debut in game one against Rio Grande. The freshman also scored seven runs, registered two triples, and stole two bases on the weekend.
Crabtree Swings the Bat: Glen Crabtree tallied nine hits in the opening weekend, going 9-for-16 at the plate to post a .563 batting average. The fifth-year senior homer, drove home six runs, recorded two doubles, scored five times, and was hit by three pitches in the four games.
Reaching Base Equalled Scoring Runs: Brad Ammons made the most of his opportunities on the base paths against Rio Grande. He reached base safely nine times, with five hits and four walks, and came around to score seven times on the weekend.
Swiping Bases: As a team, Lourdes stole 12 bases in 14 attempts during the first four games of the season.

Harrison Jackson, and
Jay Denman each had two steals each to lead the way.
An Offensive Team: Lourdes ranks second among NAIA teams averaging 11.25 runs per game this season while the Gray Wolves are also third in hits per contest, banging out 11.5 per outing. Lourdes scored 45 runs and had 46 hits in the four-game series against Rio Grande.
Rogge and McKart Start Strong: Kolby Rogge and
Braxton McKart both turned in strong season-opening performances on the hill in earning their first victories of the year. Rogge tossed 6.2 innings of one-run, seven-hit baseball, striking out five without walking anyone. McKart went six innings, yielding one run on five hits and fanned four in his season debut.
Gray Wolves Tabbed Seventh in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was picked to finish seventh in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference in the 2020 preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. The Gray Wolves were slotted just behind Michigan-Dearborn and just ahead of Aquinas. Indiana Tech was picked as the preseason favorite.
Streaking: Harrison Jackson is the only Gray Wolf to hit safely in all four games thus far this season. Jackson,
Brad Ammons,
Cameron Gallo,
Jay Denman, and
Glen Crabtree have all reached base safely in the four contests though.
Lengthy Road Trip: Lourdes opens the 2020 season playing 20 consecutive games away from Mercy Field, including opening WHAC play with a pair of doubleheaders to wrap up the road trip. The Gray Wolves open the home portion of the schedule on March 25 against Grace.
This and That: Lourdes is 13-13 all-time in extra inning contests after picking up a win in the season finale that went nine innings in a game scheduled for seven ... the Gray Wolves committed just six errors over the first four games of the season.
