Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: Lourdes heads to Lawrenceville, Ga. for five days to begin its spring break trip, playing six games, including three against NAIA top-15 programs.  The Gray Wolves will face fifth-ranked, and host Georgia Gwinnett twice, while also playing neutral site games against Talladega, 11th-ranked Cumberlands (Ky.), and Viterbo.

Head Coach Josh Bradford: In his first season in the Lourdes dugout, Josh Bradford has a 4-2 (.667) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves, as well as in his career as a collegiate head coach.  He is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Probable Starters: Braxton McKart (RHP, 1-1, 11.88) will toe the rubber in the weekend opener against Talladega on Friday while Kolby Rogge (RHP, 1-0, 3.09) is slated to pitch the second game against Georgia Gwinnett.  Zack Banks (RHP, 0-0, 6.75) is expected to pitch Saturday's game against Talladega.  Sunday's starter against Georgia Gwinnett and Monday's hurler versus Cumberlands (Ky.) have not been announced at this time.  On Tuesday against Viterbo, Max Lojko (RHP, 2-0, 4.50) is slated to make his first start of the 2020 season.

Series Notes: Lourdes has never faced Talladega, Georgia Gwinnett, Cumberlands (Ky.) or Viterbo on the baseball diamond.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes surrendered six runs in the bottom of the first of game one on Friday and suffered a 10-0 setback at Georgetown (Ky.).  The Gray Wolves were limited to just four hits.  In game two, Lourdes scored three runs in the second, but the Tigers battled back, scoring four times in the bottom of the sixth on the way to a 7-3 win.  Jay Denman had two hits for Lourdes in the loss.  Saturday's doubleheader at Georgetown (Ky.) was cancelled due to snow.

Scouting Talladega: The Tornadoes have won three straight games after sweeping a series with Tuskegee last weekend.  Talladega is batting .341 as a team, led by Wilkin Louis, who is hitting .534 with five home runs and 23 runs batted in.  The Tornadoes pitching staff sports a 7.70 earned run average.

Scouting Georgia Gwinnett: The Grizzlies have won 17 straight games after sweeping Northwestern Ohio last weekend.  Georgia Gwinnett is batting .311 as a team, with Gabe Howell hitting .391 with four homers and 21 RBI.  The Grizzlies' pitching staff sports a 3.24 ERA while opponents are hitting just .219 against them.

Scouting Cumberlands (Ky.): The Patriots suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday, 3-2, against Huntington, snapping a 17-game winning streak.  Cumberlands plays three games at Campbellsville this weekend before facing Lourdes.  The Patriots are batting .278 as a team led by Bryan Leef, who is hitting .365 with eight home runs and 20 RBI.  The pitching staff sports a 2.98 earned run average with opponents hitting .211 against them.

Scouting Viterbo: The Hawks have been idle since Feb. 23 when they dropped a pair of games against Madonna.  Viterbo plays at Reinhardt for a doubleheader on Monday before battling Lourdes.  The Hawks are hitting .241 as a team, with Nolan Glunz leading the way with a .379 batting average.  The pitching staff sports an 8.10 ERA and opponents are hitting .309 against them.

Fielding the Ball: Lourdes has committed just seven errors through the first six games this season, including just one last weekend at Georgetown (Ky.).  The Gray Wolves have just one player with more than one miscue on the season, and the team's fielding percentage of .964 ranks 29th in NAIA.

Jackson's Career off to Hot Start: Harrison Jackson continued his strong start for the Gray Wolves, batting .500 through the first six games of his freshman season.  The Lourdes rookie has five extra base hits, including a home run, and has driven in six runs already this season.  Jackson has hit safely in all six contests this year.

Second Best Start Ever: Lourdes is off to a 4-2 start, matching the second best start in the nine-year program history.  The Gray Wolves also were credited with a 4-2 start in 2013, but only retroactively after being awarded a pair of forfeit victories.  Lourdes began the 2019 season 5-1, the best six-game start ever, with four of the games being played in the fall of 2018.

Gray Wolves Tabbed Seventh in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was picked to finish seventh in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference in the 2020 preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  The Gray Wolves were slotted just behind Michigan-Dearborn and just ahead of Aquinas.  Indiana Tech was picked as the preseason favorite.

Lengthy Road Trip: Lourdes opens the 2020 season playing 20 consecutive games away from Mercy Field, including opening WHAC play with a pair of doubleheaders to wrap up the road trip.  The Gray Wolves open the home portion of the schedule on March 25 against Grace.

This and That: Glen Crabtree, Jay Denman, Harrison Jackson, and Brad Ammons have reached base safely in all six games ... Kolbe Rogge leads the pitching staff with a 3.09 earned run average in 11.2 innings of work.
