Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: After a week off from action, Lourdes looks to snap a two-match losing skid on Saturday evening as the Gray Wolves welcome Aquinas to Wildcat Stadium. The Gray Wolves are wrapping up their second homestand of the year.
Head Coach Matt Johnson: Matt Johnson took over as the second head coach in program's history prior to the 2019 season. Johnson sports a 96-108-9 (.472) record overall in his 11th season as a men's collegiate soccer coach and has a 21-24-1 (.467) mark in his second year at Lourdes.
Series Notes: Aquinas holds a 3-2-1 all-time series edge against Lourdes dating back to Oct. 21, 2015. The Saints won last season's meeting 3-0 on March 27, 2021 in Grand Rapids, Mich. The Gray Wolves have won both previous meetings at Wildcat Stadium, including a 1-0 victory on Oct. 12, 2019, the last time Aquinas visited Sylvania.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Farouk Amoo put Lourdes in front of ninth-ranked Indiana Tech heading into halftime but the Warriors responded with four second half goals to defeat the Gray Wolves 4-1 on Sept. 29.
Igor Silva made one save in net for Lourdes in the setback. On Saturday (Oct. 2),
Savio Adams scored a first half goal but Michigan-Dearborn found the back of the net twice in the final 12 minutes, including the match-winner with just 13 seconds to play, as the Wolverines downed the Gray Wolves 2-1 at Wildcat Stadium. Silva had three saves in goal for Lourdes.
Scouting Aquinas: The Saints enter the match following a 3-0 victory at home against Lawrence Tech on Wednesday (Oct. 6) at home. Fin Pittock and Jackson Moore lead Aquinas with two goals each while Theo Maye and Baptiste Bissessur each have three assists. Maye and Pittock lead Aquinas with five points each. In goal, Antonio Strassioto has played more than 560 minutes for the Saints, sporting a 1.58 goals against average and a .655 save percentage.
Climbing the Single Season Charts: With his 10th goal of the season against Indiana Tech last week,
Farouk Amoo is now third on the Gray Wolves' single season goals list. He trails Judah Goodridge's 2017 total of 11 by one for second in a single season while Jake Kirchoff-Sleet holds the school mark having found the back of the net 13 times in 2016. Amoo's 23 total points also ranks third on the single season list, one point behind Goodridge in 2017.
A First Half Juggernaut: Lourdes has taken advantage of the opening 45 minutes of action this season, outscoring opponents 12-3 in the first half. The Gray Wolves have entered halftime with the lead or tied in all 10 matches this year.
Amoo Second All-Time in Scoring: Farouk Amoo has scored 20 goals over his four years with the Gray Wolves, moving him into second place on the career scoring list. He is one goal shy of Jake Kirchoff-Sleet's (2015-2016) school record of 21 career goals. Amoo also has 48 career points, also second most all-time at Lourdes, just four behind Kirchoff-Sleet in that category as well.
A Scoring Machine: With seven matches remaining in the regular season, Lourdes has already found the back of the net 26 times this year. The scoring output is the fourth highest in program history. Lourdes is just three goals behind the 2017 squad for third most all-time and seven behind last year's, 2020, total of 33, which is second most. The 24 assists on the year have tied the 2017 and 2020 squads for second on the single season list. The school record for assists was 40 in 2016.
Registering Hat Tricks: Farouk Amoo recorded his second hat trick in the last three matches for the Gray Wolves in the victory over Siena Heights. Amoo now has three hat tricks in her career, most by any Lourdes player in program history. Amoo has scored a total of eight goals over his last three matches for the Gray Wolves, giving him the team lead with nine tallies and 21 total points this season.
Adams Moving on Up: Savio Adams scored his ninth career goal at Lourdes on Saturday against Michigan-Dearborn, moving him into a tie with
Brendon Long (2018-2020) for fifth on the school's single season charts. Adams is one tally behind Reece Riccardi (2016-2019) for fourth in school history. In addition, Adams now has 26 career points, fourth most all-time at Lourdes. Adams is tied with
Farouk Amoo for third on the career assist list with eight as well.
Handing Out Assists: Leon Eisert,
Andris Klempert and
Farouk Amoo share the team lead with three assists each this season. They are each one helper shy of moving into a tie for fifth on the single season assists chart.
Lots of Matches: Olawole Ogunsanya played his 70th match all-time for the Gray Wolves last Saturday (Oct. 2) against Michigan-Dearborn. He holds the school record for all-time appearances while
Jose Silveira ranks second with 63 matches played.
Robert Pereznegron has moved into a tie for second with Reece Riccardi (2016-2019) for starts wearing the terra cotta and black. Pereznegron has been in the starting 11 48 times, four shy of
Brendon Long's (2018-2020) school record of 52 starts.
Mixing Up the Lineup: Lourdes has used a variety of combinations in their starting 11 this year. A total of 20 different players have drawn at least one starting assignment, with only
N'Faly Diallo earning the starting nod in all eight matches.

Jose Silveira are serving as the Gray Wolves' captains for the second straight season.
