Complete PDF Notes
Lourdes (6-4, 4-1 WHAC)
Match #11: Wednesday, February 24, 1:30 p.m. EST
vs. Indiana East (0-3, 0-3 RSC)
Total Sports - Rossford, Ohio

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes takes to the pitch for one final non-conference tilt this week before resuming Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action.  The Gray Wolves will host Indiana East on Wednesday afternoon indoors at Total Sports in Rossford, Ohio.

Head Coach Matt Johnson: Matt Johnson took over as the second head coach in program's history prior to the 2019 season.  Johnson sports an 87-100-8 (.467) record overall in his 11th season as a men's collegiate soccer coach and has an 12-16 (.429) mark in his second year at Lourdes.

Series Notes: Lourdes and Indiana East have split their three previous meetings 1-1-1 dating back to Aug. 28, 2017.  Last season the Red Wolves downed Lourdes 3-2 in overtime at Wildcat Stadium while the Gray Wolves picked up their lone series win in Centerville, Ind. 1-0 in 2018.  The two sides played to a 1-1 draw in the initial meeting at Lourdes.

Wrapping Up Last Time Out: In a match in which Lourdes controlled play for most of the first 80 minutes, Holy Cross (Ind.) found the match-winner off a header in the 85th minute for a 1-0 victory over the Gray Wolves on Feb. 8 in Rossford, Ohio.  Jorge Mendoza made three saves for Lourdes in goal while Anthony Samuel had a team-high four shot attempts, including a pair on goal.

Scouting Indiana East: The Red Wolves are making their spring debut after going winless in three tries during the fall.  Indiana East last took the pitch on Oct. 15, falling at home 4-2 to Point Park.  Gustavo Ferrari has scored three of the Red Wolves four goals this season while Callum Coleman has also found the back of the net.  In goal, Aaron Gipson has played every minute, sporting a 4.33 goals against average and a .552 save percentage.

Mendoza Sees Season's First Action: Jorge Mendoza saw his first action of the year in goal for the Gray Wolves against Holy Cross (Ind.) in the team's last outing.  The redshirt-sophomore made three stops on four shot attempts in 90 minutes of action.  The appearance was the fourth of Mendoza's career, as he has a 0.82 career goals against average and a .824 all-time save percentage.

More New Faces: Leon Eisert and Darius Passley-Bennett each saw their first action of the 2020(1) season against the Saints two weeks ago as well.  Eisert arrived at Lourdes during the semester break from Germany and drew a starting assignment in his debut.  Passley-Bennett missed the fall due to injury and came off the bench in his season debut.  He has seven goals and two assists in 13 career matches with Lourdes.

Playing Indoors: Wednesday's match is the second of three straight contests for the Gray Wolves indoors.  In addition to hosting Holy Cross (Ind.) and Indiana East, Lourdes will be the visitors in the same facility when the Gray Wolves resume WHAC play on March 10 at Northwestern Ohio.

A Change to the Record: When Lourdes ended the fall season, the Gray Wolves thought they were 5-4 overall and 3-2 in WHAC play.  However, during the winter break, the match at Siena Heights that the Gray Wolves originally lost was declared a forfeit by the Saints giving Lourdes an extra win, and three points, in the standings.

Moving Up Single Season Charts: Just halfway through 2020 season, this year's Lourdes squad already ranks fifth in program history with 16 goals and 13 assists along with 45 total points.  The two shutouts also are tied for fifth for a single season.

Chokr Matches School Shutout Mark: Ali Chokr tied the Lourdes record with his seventh career shutout this past fall, matching the mark set by Jose Cedillo (2015-2017).  Chokr had two clean sheets as a freshman, three last year, and already has a pair in four starts this season.

Elsewhere on the All-Time Charts: Ali Chokr also ranks second in program history in minutes played in goal, saves, and goals against average.  Chokr enters this week's action with 160 career saves, 14 shy of Jose Cedillo's (2015-2017) mark of 174, and his 1.91 career goals against average just trails Cedillo's all-time mark of 1.69.  Chokr is also approximately 370 minutes shy of Cedillo's minutes played mark of 3192:12.

Moving Into the Top-10: Brendon Long has joined teammates Farouk Amoo and Savio Adams in a tie for eighth all-time in scoring along with Isamnia Coehn (2016).  The quartet have all scored six career goals with the Gray Wolves.

Lots of Experience: Olawole Ogunsanya has moved into second place in program history having appeared in 52 career matches.  He trails only Reece Riccardi (2016-2019), who appeared in 57 matches, on the Gray Wolves' all-time list.  Jose Silveira has moved into a tie for fifth all-time for the Gray Wolves, having stepped onto the pitch 47 times for Lourdes, matching Riley Hogan's (2015-2018) total.  Brendon Long just passed Goodridge for second place all-time at Lourdes having made 44 career starts.  Riccardi holds the starts record as well with 48.

Team Captains: Lourdes has tri-captains for the 2020 season.  Serving in the Gray Wolves' leadership role are seniors Savio Adams and Jose Silveira along with junior Cameron Poslaiko.  All three are first time captains for Lourdes.

This and That: Lourdes had 29 different players step foot on the pitch during the fall ... 20 different players have drawn a starting assignment ... after five overtime matches in 2019, Lourdes has yet to play more than 90 minutes this season.
