Complete PDF Notes
Lourdes (2-0, 0-0 WHAC)
Game #3: Saturday, March 13, 3:30 p.m. EST
at Cumberlands (Ky.) (1-4, 1-1 MSC)
UC Lacrosse/Soccer Complex - Williamsburg, Ky.

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Lourdes concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule on Saturday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves head south to face Cumberlands (Ky.).  Lourdes is looking to remain unbeaten on the young 2021 season.

Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his sixth season on the Lourdes bench, Patrick Yannarelli has a 61-31 (.663) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  Yannarelli was named the NAIA National Coach of the Year in 2016.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes won the only previous contest against Cumberlands (Ky.) 6-5 in overtime on March 8, 2018 in Williamsburg, Ky.  The Patriots entered that game ranked seventh in the NAIA.

Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves opened the season on Thursday (March 4) with a 12-4 victory at home against Mount Vernon Nazarene.  Jonny Thomson scored three times while Drew Gilhooly added two goals and three assists for a five-point game.  Tyler Queen made nine saves in goal, playing just over 50 minutes.  On Sunday (March 7), Lourdes opened the road slate with a 14-12 victory at Montreat.  Cory Campbell scored five times while Queen made 10 stops in the win.

Scouting Cumberlands (Ky.): The Patriots have lost four straight games, including two via forfeit, after falling 11-5 at home to Siena Heights on Saturday (March 6) afternoon.  Dylan Crouch leads Cumberlands with 18 points on the year, scoring 12 goals while adding six assists.  Christian Vanover also has 12 goals this season for the Patriots.  In goal, Connor Owens has played the majority of the minutes, sporting a 16.21 goals against average and a .543 save percentage.

Lourdes Remains Perfect in Season Openers: Lourdes improved to 8-0 all-time in season openers after downing Mount Vernon Nazarene 12-4 in this year's first game.  The win came in the home opener as well for the Gray Wolves as Lourdes had not opened a season on its home field since 2014 when it downed Oakland.

Campbell on All-Time Scoring Lists: Cory Campbell ranks fifth in program history with 64 career goals, moving past Tanner Jaramillo (2016-2018) on the all-time list.  Campbell is 18 goals behind fourth place Dylan Gill (2014-2016).  Campbell is also fifth in school history with 26 career assists, moving by Mark O'Bryant (2017-2019).  He is 11 helpers behind fourth place Casey Hilfinger (2015-2018).  Campbell's 90 career points have him tied with Hilfinger for fifth place on that list as well.

Noel Grabs Ground Balls: Jacob Noel has already grabbed a team-high 19 ground balls this season and ranks third in program history with 174 for his career.  He is just 14 ground balls behind Dylan Gill (2014-2016) for second on the all-time charts.

Winning Faceoffs: Jacob Noel has also won his share of faceoffs during his career at Lourdes.  His .643 faceoff percentage is best all-time for any Gray Wolf player.  This season, Noel is 20-for-28 (.714) at the X.

Queen Steps Up in Goal: Having played just 45 total minutes in his career dating back to 2017 before this season, Tyler Queen has already seen more than 110 minutes of action in the cage.  Queen has posted a .559 save percentage and an 8.15 goals against average this year.

Captains: Lourdes has a trio of captains this season.  Serving in the leadership role are Luke Burridge, Drew Gilhooly, and Jacob Noel.

This and That: Lourdes is 3-4 all-time in overtime, but has not played more than 90 minutes since a double-overtime loss to #2 Madonna on April 17, 2019 ... the Gray Wolves have outscored their opposition in every quarter except the fourth this season ... the Lourdes offense has tallied 96 shot attempts, 55 on goal, in two games.
