Ranked Opponents This Week's Challenge for Men's Lacrosse

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Lourdes hits the road for four of its next five games beginning with a pair of contests this week against nationally-ranked foes.  The Gray Wolves travel to ninth-ranked Siena Heights on Wednesday evening before heading to number two Indiana Tech on Saturday.

Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his sixth season on the Lourdes bench, Patrick Yannarelli has a 61-33 (.649) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  Yannarelli was named the NAIA National Coach of the Year in 2016.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Siena Heights leads the series against Lourdes 5-3 dating back to March 26, 2014.  The Saints have won the last two between the two schools, including a 10-9 overtime victory in the last meeting in 2019.  Siena Heights is 4-1 against Lourdes in Adrian, Mich.  Indiana Tech holds a 4-2 series edge dating back to March 23, 2016, and has won four straight against Lourdes.  The Warriors won the last meeting 9-6 in 2019 and are 2-0 against the Gray Wolves all-time in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves led by one at halftime on Friday (March 19), but five straight goals in the second half to defeat Lourdes 10-8 at Wildcat Stadium.  Cory Campbell and Kyle Schiel each had two goals for Lourdes while Tyler Queen made 13 saves in goal.

Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints won their season opener at Cumberlands (Ky.) 11-5 back on March 6.  Eric Csizmada had three goals and two assists while Garnet Potter also found the back of the cage three times.  Vinnie Jean posted a .737 save percentage, playing all 60 minutes in goal.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the week coming off a 16-5 victory on Saturday (March 20) at Lawrence Tech and travels to Aquinas on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes.  Andrew Ryan has scored 22 times and added 14 assists for 36 total points this season while Nate Langille has added 17 goals and nine helpers for 26 points.  In goal, Joe Steigmeyer has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 6.40 goals against average and a .564 save percentage.

Facing Ranked Opponents: Lourdes 11-13 all-time against NAIA ranked opponents heading into this week's tests.  The Gray Wolves are looking to snap a four-game skid against such opponents after going 1-4 in 2019, the last season in which they played top-10 teams.  Lourdes last win against a ranked opponent came on March 2, 2019, a 12-11 win on the road at ninth-ranked Saint Ambrose.

Campbell on All-Time Scoring Lists: Cory Campbell ranks fifth in program history with 69 career goals after finding the back of the cage a team-high 12 times this year.  Campbell is 13 goals behind fourth place Dylan Gill (2014-2016).  Campbell is also fifth in school history with 28 career assists.  He is nine helpers behind fourth place Casey Hilfinger (2015-2018).  Campbell's 97 career points have pushed him by Hilfinger for fifth place on that list as well.

Noel Wins Faceoffs, Grabs Ground Balls: Jacob Noel has also won his share of faceoffs during his career at Lourdes.  His .638 faceoff percentage is best all-time for any Gray Wolf player.  This season, Noel is 35-for-55 (.636) at the X. Noel has already grabbed a team-high 27 ground balls this season and ranks third in program history with 182 for his career, just six ground balls behind Dylan Gill (2014-2016) for second on the all-time charts.

Captains: Lourdes has a trio of captains this season.  Serving in the leadership role are Luke Burridge, Drew Gilhooly, and Jacob Noel.

This and That: Lourdes is 3-4 all-time in overtime, but has not played more than 90 minutes since a double-overtime loss to #2 Madonna on April 17, 2019 ... the Gray Wolves are just 2-of-15 on the man-up this season ... Lourdes is outshooting its opponents 155-138 on the year ... Tyler Queen has played all but 9:34 in goal this year, sporting a .550 save percentage and a 9.37 goals against average.
