Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: The 2020 (21) regular season comes to a close for Lourdes this week as the Gray Wolves seek a home match in the upcoming Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.  Lourdes hosts Madonna on Wednesday afternoon before closing the campaign at Michigan-Dearborn on Friday.

Head Coach Matt Johnson: Matt Johnson took over as the second head coach in program's history prior to the 2019 season.  Johnson sports an 89-102-9 (.468) record overall in his 11th season as a men's collegiate soccer coach and has an 14-18-1 (.439) mark in his second year at Lourdes.

Series Notes: Madonna holds a 4-0-1 series advantage against Lourdes dating back to Oct. 31, 2015.  The Crusaders have won the last four meetings between the two schools after downing the Gray Wolves 2-0 in Livonia, Mich. during the 2019 campaign.  Madonna is 2-0-1 against Lourdes at Wildcat Stadium.  The Gray Wolves hold a 3-2 series edge against Michigan-Dearborn dating back to Oct. 3, 2015.  The Wolverines won the last meeting between the two schools, 2-1, at Wildcat Stadium in 2019.  Lourdes is 3-0 against the Wolverines at Michigan-Dearborn.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Farouk Amoo scored three times and added a pair of assists on Thursday afternoon (March 25) as the Gray Wolves defeated Cleary 8-4 on the road.  Hussein Sbeiti also had a multi-point match with a goal and an assist.  On Saturday (March 27), Aquinas shutout the Gray Wolves 3-0 despite Lourdes holding a 12-10 shot advantage.  Jorge Mendoza made five saves in goal.

Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders had their two-match winning streak snapped on Friday evening with a 2-0 setback at Rochester (Mich.).  Issei Ito leads Madonna with 10 points, having scored four goals and added two assists on the season.  Wagner Gameiro Febbe and Ali Basma have handed out a team-high three assists.  In goal, Robert Damron has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 0.90 goals against average and a .727 save percentage.

Scouting Michigan-Dearborn: The Wolverines have dropped three straight games after falling to Rochester (Mich.) 3-2 on the road Monday.  Christian Cuevas and Vito Serra leads Michigan-Dearborn with four points this season, each having scored a goal and added two assists.  Austin Dukes has played the majority of the minutes in goal for the Wolverines, sporting a 1.73 goals against average and an .864 save percentage.

Setting the Wins Record: Lourdes has set a new school record for victories in a season with its eighth win of the year at Cleary last Thursday.  The Gray Wolves have bettered the previous mark of seven set by the inaugural 2015 squad (7-7-2).

In Search of a Home Tournament Match: Lourdes enters the final week of the regular season one point ahead of Madonna in the race to finish in the top four in the standings and host a quarterfinal match in the upcoming WHAC tournament.  Madonna has played one fewer match than the Gray Wolves so the winner of Wednesday's contest will take a huge step towards securing that home contest.  Lourdes has not qualified for the WHAC tournament since the inaugural 2015 season, falling at Marygrove, against current Gray Wolf head coach Matt Johnson, 1-0 in the quarterfinal.

Amoo with Quite a Match: Farouk Amoo became just the eight Gray Wolf in program history to register a hat trick, when he scored three times in the win at Cleary on Thursday.  In addition, Amoo handed out a pair of assists for an eight-point match, the second highest total in program history.  On Jake Kirchoff-Sleet, who tallied 12 points against Great Lakes Christian on Sept. 7, 2016, had more points in a contest.

Fifth Highest Output Ever: Lourdes eight goals against Cleary were the most ever for the Gray Wolves in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match, and the fifth highest scoring output in program history.  The school record is 27 goals against Great Lakes Christian in 2016 and the Gray Wolves have also had outputs of 10 and nine (twice) goals in a match.

Adams Ties Assist Mark: Savio Adams handed out his sixth assist of the season against Indiana Tech, tying Lourdes' single season record set by Jake Kirchoff-Sleet during the 2016 campaign.  His seven career assists are third most in program history.

Moving Up Single Season Charts: With two matches remaining in the regular season, this year's Lourdes squad already ranks third in program history with 28 goals, 21 assists, and 77 points.  The two shutouts also are tied for fifth for a single season.

On the All-Time Charts: Ali Chokr also ranks second in program history in minutes played in goal, saves, and goals against average.  Chokr enters this week's action with 170 career saves, four shy of Jose Cedillo's (2015-2017) mark of 174, and his 1.92 career goals against average just trails Cedillo's all-time mark of 1.69.  Chokr is just over 100 minutes shy of Cedillo's minutes played mark of 3192:12.

Lots of Experience: Olawole Ogunsanya has tied Reece Riccardi (2016-2019), for the top of the Gray Wolves' all-time list in matches played.  Jose Silveira has moved into third all-time for the Gray Wolves, having stepped onto the pitch 52 times for Lourdes.  Brendon Long has passed Riccardi for the school record with 49 career starts.

This and That: Lourdes has assured itself a winning record at home this season ... 35 different Gray Wolves have seen the pitch this year.
