Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Postseason play has arrived for Lourdes University as the Gray Wolves host Madonna on Wednesday evening to open the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.
Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his sixth season on the Lourdes bench,
Patrick Yannarelli has a 65-35 (.650) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. Â Yannarelli was named the NAIA National Coach of the Year in 2016. Â He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes and Madonna have split four meetings all-time, 2-2, dating back to March 17, 2017. Â The Gray Wolves snapped a two-game losing streak in the series with an 11-10 victory at Wildcat Stadium on March 31 in this year's regular season matchup. Â Madonna holds a 2-1 all-time edge at Wildcat Stadium though, and this will be the first time the two schools meet in postseason play. Â
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes used a 6-0 run spanning two halves to rally and defeat Michigan-Dearborn 13-11 last Monday (April 11) at home. Â

Chad Causley all scored twice in the win. Â On Thursday (April 15), Aquinas scored with 1:31 to play in overtime to defeat the Gray Wolves 11-10. Â
Tyler Pezzot led Lourdes with four goals. Â In the regular season finale on Saturday, Gilhooly scored four times while Pezzot, Causley, and
Jake Noel added three goals each in a 19-10 victory over Taylor.
Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders enter the tournament having dropped two straight games, but have been idle since a 13-4 setback at Indiana Tech on April 7. Â Cole Gingell leads Madonna with 17 goals and five assists for 22 total points while Harry Dyson has added 15 goals and 19 points. Â In goal, Jeff Varner has played all but four minutes, sporting a 10.25 goals against average and a .556 save percentage.
Lourdes in the WHAC Tournament: The Gray Wolves are 2-1 all-time in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament, having claimed the 2017 title. Â Lourdes last appeared in the postseason in 2019, falling 13-9 at Lawrence Tech in the quarterfinals. Â The Gray Wolves last hosted a game in 2017, the championship contest in which Lourdes defeated Aquinas 13-6.
Stahura Earns Multiple Honors: Zach Stahura was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week for his role in three games last week. Â Stahura won 66-of-78 (84.6%) faceoffs and collected 37 ground balls while scoring twice and dishing out a pair of assists on the offensive end. Â
Campbell on All-Time Scoring Lists: Cory Campbell ranks fifth in program history with 77 career goals. Â Campbell is five goals behind fourth place
Dylan Gill (2014-2016). Â Campbell is also sixth in school history with 3 career assists, four helpers behind fourth place
Casey Hilfinger (2015-2018) and teammate
Drew Gilhooly. Â Campbell's 110 career points have pushed him into fourth place on that list as well.
Grabbing Ground Balls: Jake Noel has 48 ground balls this season and 203 for his career, second most in program history. Â He is 67 ground balls behind school record holder
Jared Yoshino (2014-2017), who ended his career with 270.
Winning Faceoffs: Lourdes has won 71.3% of its faceoffs this season. Â
Zach Stahura has won 122-of-159 (.767) draws at the X while
Jake Noel has been early as good, winning 40-of-66 (.606). Â Stahura has collected 62 ground balls while
Nate Allan has 60 as the Gray Wolves have carried the possession a good amount of the season.
Scoring Leaders: Cory Campbell and
Tyler Pezzot have led Lourdes offensively with 20 and 19 goals respectively this season. Â They also rank one-two in total points with 29 and 27. Â
Drew Gilhooly has handed out a team-high 13 assists and ranks third with 26 total points.
This and That: Lourdes is 3-5 all-time in overtime, after falling at Aquinas last Thursday ... Lourdes is 12-14 all-time against NAIA ranked foes, including 1-1 this year after falling to #2 Indiana Tech but downing #7 Madonna.
