Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes begins a three-match homestand this week looking to bounce back from back-to-back shutout defeats.  The Gray Wolves entertain Madonna on Wednesday afternoon before hosting Rochester (Mich.) on Saturday evening.

Head Coach Matt Johnson: Matt Johnson took over as the second head coach in program's history prior to the 2019 season.  Johnson sports a 102-118-11 (.465) record overall in his 12th season as a men's collegiate soccer coach and has a 27-34-2 (.444) mark in his second year at Lourdes.

Series Notes: Madonna holds a 6-0-1 all-time advantage against Lourdes in a series that began Oct. 31, 2015.  The Crusaders have won the last six meetings between the two schools after a 2-0 win over the Gray Wolves last season in Livonia, Mich.  Madonna leads the series at Wildcat Stadium 3-0-1.  The Gray Wolves are 4-1 all-time against Rochester (Mich.) dating back to Sept. 23, 2017.  The Gray Wolves have won three straight meetings between the two schools after defeating the Warriors 2-1 in Washington Township, Mich. in 2021.  The series is even 1-1 at Wildcat Stadium.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Northwestern Ohio scored three second half goals on Wednesday (Sept. 28) as the Racers downed Lourdes 3-0 in Lima, Ohio.  Alex Brock made seven saves in the setback for the Gray Wolves.  On Saturday (Oct. 1), Lawrence Tech scored in the 19th minute and that proved to be the difference as the Blue Devils notched a 1-0 win over the Gray Wolves in Southfield, Mich.  Brock had one stop in the loss.

Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders have won seven straight games after scoring a 3-1 victory at Aquinas on Saturday.  Ryota Nakajima leads Madonna with six goals and four assists for 16 total points this season while Jordy Lopez has added five goals and 12 points.  In goal, Youssou Ouendeno has started all nine matches, sporting a 0.82 goals against average and an .825 save percentage.

Scouting Rochester (Mich.): The Warriors enter the week having dropped a 4-1 decision on the road at home against Indiana Tech on Saturday.  Rochester travels to Aquinas on Wednesday evening before heading to Lourdes.  Dmitar Stankovic leads the Warriors with nine goals and 26 total points on the season.  Luis Koleci has added four goals and leads Rochester with four assists for 12 points.  In goal, Kris Tauzik has played a majority of the minutes.  He sports a 1.82 goals against average and a .790 save percentage this season.

Home Sweet Home: Lourdes has had a great deal of success on its home pitch at Wildcat Stadium this season.  The Gray Wolves are 3-1 and enter the week having won three straight matches.

Taking the Field: N'Faly Diallo's next appearance will tie him with Olawole Ogunsanya (2017-2021) for most matches played in a Lourdes uniform.  Diallo has appeared in 72 over the course of his career, one more than teammate Robert Pereznegron, who is third on the all-time list.  Pereznegron holds the matches started record though with 59, one more than Diallo's 58.

Kreutzberg Nearing Single Season Mark: Jonas Kreutzberg has delivered the match-winning goal in all three victories for the Gray Wolves in 2022, one shy of the school's single season mark in that category.  The three match-winners account for all three of his career tallies.

Sbeiti Moves into Seventh All-Time in Goals: Hussein Sbeiti scored his second goal of the season against Cornerstone.  The tally was the eighth of his career, moving him into a tie with Haggi Amirally (2016-2017) for seventh on the Gray Wolves' all-time goal-scoring chart.

Eisert Matches Career Assist Mark: Leon Eisert picked up his first assist of the season on Hussein Sbeiti's goal against Cornerstone.  The helper was the 10th of his career, tying the school record set by Jake Kirchoff-Sleet (2015-2016) and also matched by Farouk Amoo (2018-2021).

On the All-Time Lists: Darius Passley-Bennett and Leon Eisert are tied for ninth all-time with seven career goals. Andris Klempert ranks sixth on the career assists list with seven, needing one more to match Savio Adams (2018, 2020-21) for fifth in school history.

More Top Performances: Leon Eisert is currently fifth all-time with 24 career points.  He needs eight more to match Savio Adams (2018, 2020-2021) for fourth on the all-time chart.  Darius Passley-Bennett is tied for 10th on the list with Akilla Arno (2015-2017), each tallying 17 points.  Hussein Sbeiti has three career match-winning goals, tied for third most in program history.  Sbeiti is one match-winner shy of Judah Goodridge's (2015-2017) second place mark of four.

Gray Wolves Tabbed Sixth in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was selected to finish in fifth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  The Gray Wolves were picked just behind fifth place Madonna.  Indiana Tech was the unanimous selection to win the league crown.

Team Captains: N'Faly Diallo, Anthony Samuel, and Igor Silva will serve as team captains for the 2022 season.

This and That: 26 different Gray Wolves have stepped onto the pitch this season ... 16 Lourdes players have registered at least one shot attempt ... the Gray Wolves are outshooting their opponents 120-102 this season but have been outscored 19-10.
