Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes carries a three-match winning streak into postseason play on Saturday afternoon.  The Gray Wolves enter the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament as the sixth seed and face third-seeded, and 19th-ranked, Northwestern Ohio on the road in the quarterfinal round.

Head Coach Matt Johnson: Matt Johnson took over as the second head coach in program's history prior to the 2019 season.  Johnson sports a 105-120-14 (.469) record overall in his 12th season as a men's collegiate soccer coach and has a 30-36-5 (.458) mark in his second year at Lourdes.

Series Notes: Northwestern Ohio leads the all-time series against Lourdes 9-0 dating back to Sept. 26, 2015.  The Racers won this year's earlier meeting in Lima, Ohio 3-0 on Sept. 28.  UNOH is 5-0 all-time against the Gray Wolves in Lima.  The two schools have met in the WHAC tournament once previously with the Racers notching a 2-1 overtime victory in 2021.

Wrapping Up Last Week: After Cleary struck first on Wednesday, Anthony Samuel knotted the match before halftime while Leon Eisert scored the match-winner with just under 18 minutes to play as Lourdes defeated the Cougars 2-1 on the road.  Alex Brock made three saves in goal for the Gray Wolves.  In Saturday's regular season finale, Lourdes downed Michigan-Dearborn 4-0 on the road.  Martin Coronel, Diego Pereira, Jonas Kreutzberg, and Andris Klempert all scored while Igor Silva had three stops in net to earn the clean sheet.

Scouting Northwestern Ohio: The Racers enter the tournament unbeaten (5-0-2) in their last seven matches and winners of three straight following a 7-3 triumph at Rochester (Mich.) last Saturday afternoon.  Tomas Echevarria leads Northwestern Ohio with 14 goals and five assists for 33 total points.  Simon Von Benzon has added seven goals and five helpers for 19 points while Cameron Power also shares the team lead with five assists.  In goal, a trio of players have split time, nearly equally.  Ben Parkinson sports a 0.64 goals against average and has a .800 save percentage.  Simon Sanchez has a 0.75 GAA and a .789 save mark while Danilio Abayo has tallied a 0.78 GAA and an .833 save percentage.

Lourdes in the WHAC Tournament: The Gray Wolves are making their fourth appearance in the WHAC tournament still in search of their victory.  
This marks the third consecutive season that Lourdes has advance to postseason play.  Last season the Gray Wolves dropped their quarterfinal match on the road at Northwestern Ohio 2-1 in overtime..  

Eisert on the Scoring List: With his goal at Cleary, Leon Eisert now has 11 for his career at Lourdes, ranking him fifth in program history.  He is one tally behind Savio Adams (2018, 20-21) for fourth.  Eisert also moved into a tie with Adams for fourth on the career points list with 32.  Eisert shares the career assist record at Lourdes with Jake Kirchoff-Sleet (2015-2016) and Farouk Amoo (2018-2021) with 10 helpers over his three seasons with the Gray Wolves.

Others on the Scoring List: Hussein Sbeiti, Anthony Samuel, and Diego Pereira all rank in the top-10 on the Gray Wolves' career points list as well.  Sbeiti is tied for sixth with 23 points while Samuel is eighth with 22 points.  Pereira has cracked the list as well, tying for 10th.  Samuel is tied for sixth all-time at Lourdes with 10 career goals while Pereira and Sbeiti are in the tie for ninth with eight goals each.

This Year's Scoring Race: Anthony Samuel leads the way in scoring for the Gray Wolves this year, tallying six goals and 12 total points.  Diego Pereira and Jonas Kreutzberg each have 10 points, including four goals, while Leon Eisert has also scored four times this season.

Match Winners: Jonas Kreutzberg has scored half of the Gray Wolves' match-winning goals this season.  His three match-winners are tied with Adilson Darosa from 2015 for second on the single season list.  Farouk Amoo set the school record with four match-winning goals last season.

On Record-Setting Pace: Alex Brock enters the WHAC tournament needing to play just 30 minutes in goal to qualify for the program's single season goals against average record.  Brock sports a 1.54 GAA this season, just ahead of Igor Silva's 2021 mark of 1.59.

Lots of Appearances: N'Faly Diallo and Robert Pereznegron rank one-two on the Gray Wolves' career matches played list.  Diallo has seen action in 79 contests, two more than Pereznegron, over the past five seasons.  The duo also share the school mark for career starts, each having made 63 while wearing the terra cotta and black.

Mixing Up Starting Combinations: A total of 23 different Gray Wolves have earned at least one starting assignment in 2022.  Jonas Kreutzberg is the lone player to be penciled into the starting 11 in all 18 matches this season for Lourdes.  In fact, only five players have appeared in every contest this season.  Diego Pereira, Hussein Sbeiti, Victor Espinoza, and Ariel Ramirez Rios have stepped on to the pitch in each match in addition to Kreutzberg.

This and That: 30 different Gray Wolves have stepped onto the pitch this season ... 21 Lourdes players have registered at least one shot attempt ... the Gray Wolves are outshooting their opponents 246-171 this season but have been outscored 27-24.
