Lourdes University's Harrison McBean (Melbourne, Australia/Northern College of the Arts) has been named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in four contests last week.
 
McBean tallied 19 blocks in 13 sets, an average of 1.46 per stanza.  He also was involved offensively with 19 kills (1.46/set) while hitting .256.
 
The junior's week began with just two blocks in the three-set sweep over Lawrence Tech but was a force offensively.  He had eight kills and hit .700 against the Blue Devils.  From there McBean's defense took over.  He had seven rejections, including two solo blocks, at fourth-ranked Grand View before adding four more blocks against sixth-ranked Jamestown.  McBean concluded the week with six rejections as well as five kills and a .556 hitting performance at Saint Ambrose.
 
For the season, McBean has now recorded 50 blocks (1.11/set) while adding 64 kills (1.42/set) and is hitting .299.
 
Lourdes (12-4, 8-2 WHAC), ranked 10^th in NAIA, returns to the court on Tuesday evening as the Gray Wolves battle 14^th-ranked Saint Xavier.  First serve is set for 8 p.m. EST inside the Shannon Center in Chicago, Ill.
