Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes men's soccer heads into the final week of the regular season in the thick of the WHAC tournament race.  The Gray Wolves close the campaign with a pair of home matches, hosting Cleary on Wednesday evening before entertaining Michigan-Dearborn for Senior Day on Saturday.

Head Coach Matt Johnson: Matt Johnson took over as the second head coach in program's history prior to the 2019 season.  Johnson sports a 109-127-19 (.465) record overall in his 13th season as a men's collegiate soccer coach and has a 34-43-11 (.449) mark in his third year at Lourdes.

Series Notes: Lourdes holds a 4-3 series edge against Cleary dating back to Sept. 12, 2015.  The Gray Wolves have won back-to-back matches against the Cougars after notching a 2-1 triumph in Howell, Mich. last season.  Cleary leads the series at Wildcat Stadium 2-1 though.  The Gray Wolves are 5-3 all-time against Michigan-Dearborn in a series that began Oct. 3, 2015.  Lourdes defeated the Wolverines 4-0 in Dearborn, Mich. last season.  Michigan-Dearborn holds a 3-0 edge all-time at Wildcat Stadium.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes scored four times in the first 12 minutes on Wednesday afternoon and defeated Concordia (Mich.) 5-2 at Wildcat Stadium.  Alex Hartl notched a hat trick in the first 10:10 of the contest and Austin Gibbons added a pair of goals.  Alex Brock had two saves in goal.  On Saturday, a pair of second half tallies pushed the Gray Wolves past Siena Heights 3-2 in Adrian, Mich.  Gibbons, Ariel Ramirez Rios, and Martin Coronel all found the back of the net while Brock made three more stops.

Scouting Cleary: The Cougars have dropped back-to-back matches after falling 3-1 at Aquinas on Saturday.  Lesman Morazan leads Cleary in scoring this season, having tallied 12 goals and 27 total points.  Morazan also shares the team lead with Felix Arndt with three assists each.  In goal, Austin Freemire has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 1.66 goals against average and a .750 save percentage.  He has recorded a pair of shutouts.

Scouting Michigan-Dearborn: The Wolverines are unbeaten (1-0-2) over their last three matches after playing to a 1-1 draw with Indiana Tech on Saturday.  Michigan-Dearborn hosts Siena Heights on Wednesday before heading to Lourdes.  Xavier Walser leads the Wolverines in scoring this season with four goals and 10 total points.  Austin Dukes holds the team's assist lead with three.  In goal, Elijah Burlak has played a majority of the minutes, registering a 1.88 goals against average and a .698 save percentage while recording one shutout.

Thank You Seniors: Lourdes will honor its 12 seniors prior to the match with Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday.  Sebastian Bogarin, Victor Espinoza, Austin Gibbons, Daniel Mirlach, Diego Pereira, Ariel Ramirez Rios, Federico Reali, Alejandro Rios, Rodolfo Ruiz, Jakob Walther, and Jose Zarate will recognized along with manager Tommy Uglijesa prior to their final contest at Wildcat Stadium.

On the Verge of a WHAC Tournament Berth: Lourdes needs just one point (a draw or better) over the final two matches to assure itself a spot in next week's Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.  The Gray Wolves enter the week tied with Northwestern Ohio for fifth place, but trail fourth place Lawrence Tech by only two points in the quest to host a quarterfinal match.

Now That was Fast: Alex Hartl scored the second fastest goal in program history last Wednesday, finding the back of the net just 21 seconds into the contest against Concordia (Mich.).  The only goal to occur quicker in a contest for the Gray Wolves came on Sept. 10, 2022 when Diego Pereira scored 13 seconds into the match against Point Park.

Hartl Nets 11th Hat Trick in Program History: Playing in just his third match at Lourdes, Alex Hartl scored three times in the first 10:10 of the match against Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday, recording the 11th hat trick in Gray Wolf history.  He is the seventh different player to score three goals in a match.

Gibbons Has Quite the Week: Austin Gibbons had a solid week offensively for the Gray Wolves, scoring three times while handing out an assist in the pair of wins.  Gibbons scored twice and added a helper in the victory over Concordia (Mich.) before netting the first tally at Siena Heights.  Gibbons leads Lourdes with four goals and nine points this year.

In the Record Books: Diego Pereira and Hussein Sbeiti rank sixth and seventh respectively in program history for total points in a career.  Pereira has 25 points while Sbeiti enters the week with 24.  Pereira is also tied for seventh with 10 career goals while Sbeiti is tied for 10th with eight.  However, Sbeiti is tied for fifth with eight career assists and Pereira is tied for 10th with five.

Most Draws Ever: Lourdes has set a new school record for ties in a season after drawing with Aquinas for the team's fifth deadlock of the season.  The Gray Wolves played to four draws last season.  Prior to 2022, Lourdes had recorded just seven ties in the program's first seven seasons.

Lots of Appearances: Hussein Sbeiti has moved into fifth place all-time at Lourdes with 63 career appearances on the pitch.  Sbeiti and Diego Pereira are tied for sixth in Gray Wolf history having started 44 career contests.

Team Captains: Victor Espinoza, Daniel Mirlach, and Ariel Ramirez Rios are serving as team captains for the 2023 season.

This and That: Alex Brock has six career shutouts, one shy of the school mark set by Jose Cedillo (2015-2017) and Ali Chokr (2018-2020) ... the five goals against Concordia (Mich.) were a season high and most in a match since defeating the same Cardinals 5-0 on Oct. 27, 2021.
