Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: After three consecutive victories away from home to start the season, Lourdes returns home to Wildcat Stadium for the first time in 2023 on Monday evening as the Gray Wolves play host to SCAD-Savannah in non-conference action.
Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his 10th season on the Lourdes bench,
Patrick Yannarelli has a 77-74 (.642) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. Yannarelli was named the NAIA National Coach of the Year in 2016. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes won the only previous contest against SCAD-Savannah by the score of 14-13 on March 6, 2017 in Savannah, Ga. This will be the Bees first visit to Sylvania.
Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves opened the season on Monday (March 7) with an 8-6 victory on the road at St. Andrews.
Nick Johnson scored three times while
Jack Bichsel made 12 saves in goal. On Wednesday (March 9), Lourdes earned a neutral site win over Point by the score of 13-4.
Brock Meomartino tallied four goals while Bichsel made 17 stops in the cage. The Gray Wolves concluded the week on Thursday (March 10) with a 15-9 win at Montreat. Johnson and Meomartino each scored four times while Bichsel made five saves.
Scouting SCAD-Savannah: The Bees have dropped three consecutive games after falling 12-8 to top-ranked Keiser on March 10 at home. Max Williams leads SCAD with six goals this season while Jordan Reeves has a team-high four assists and nine total points. In goal, Benny Goldberg has played every minute, sporting an 11.98 goals against average and a .550 save percentage.
Lourdes in Home Openers: Lourdes is 7-1 all-time in home openers, with the lone setback coming against Dayton in 2015. Last year the Gray Wolves were awarded a forfeit victory over Missouri Baptist in what was supposed to be their first home contest. Lourdes also was awarded a forfeit win for its 2019 home opener against Cleary.
Bichsel Earns WHAC Honor: Jack Bichsel was named the WHAC Defensive Player of the Week after his first three collegiate games. The freshman goalkeeper posted a 5.56 goals against average and a .680 save percentage, making 34 stops while yielding just 16 goals in more than 170 minutes of action.
On the Scoring Lists: Nick Johnson ranks fifth in program history with 118 career points. He needs just one more point to match Cory Campbell (2017-2021) for fourth all-time at Lourdes. Johnson's 91 career goals are fourth most in program history while his 31 career assists rank him eighth.
Freshman Starting His Career Strong: Brock Meomartino has made the most of his first three collegiate games. The freshman has scored nine times, tied for the team lead, while also handing out three assists for 12 total points. Meomartino leads Lourdes with 34 total shot attempts this season.
At the X: Noah Loth has taken 39 faceoffs for the Gray Wolves this season, winning 24 of them for a .615 winning percentage. Loth had never taken a faceoff for Lourdes prior to this season. As a team, Lourdes has won 54.8% of its faceoffs this year after posting a 57.8% winning percentage last year.
