Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: Lourdes returns home for just the second time this season on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Siena Heights for a WHAC doubleheader.  The Gray Wolves return to the road this weekend for a four-game series at Concordia (Mich.) with a doubleheader scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday.

Head Coach Josh Bradford: In his fourth season in the Lourdes dugout, Josh Bradford has a 60-65 (.450) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves, as well as in his career as a collegiate head coach.  He is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Probable Starters: Brenden Holland (LHP, 0-2, 7.20) and Avery Harper (RHP, 1-1, 9.00) are expected to start the doubleheader on Wednesday against Siena Heights.  In Saturday's opener against Concordia (Mich.), Wyatt Smith (RHP, 2-0, 5.62) will toe the rubber in game one while the game two starter has yet to be announced.  Joey Oehlers (LHP, 3-2, 8.02) and Anderson Strunk (LHP, 2-1, 7.16) are scheduled to start Sunday against the Cardinals.

Series Notes: Siena Heights holds an 18-13 series advantage against Lourdes dating back to April 5, 2012.  Last season the two schools split a doubleheader at Mercy Field with the Gray Wolves winning the opener 1-0 before Siena Heights took the nightcap 4-2.  The Saints holds an 11-5 edge in games played at Mercy Field.  Concordia (Mich.) is 23-11-1 all-time against the Gray Wolves in a series that began April 13, 2012.  Last year the two schools split a twinbill in Ann Arbor, Mich., with the Cardinals winning the opener 8-7 before Lourdes took game two 6-4.  Concordia holds a 10-7-1 edge in Ann Arbor.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes swept a four-game weekend series at Rochester (Mich.).  On Friday, the Gray Wolves erupted for a 10-run and 9-run inning on the way to a 24-5 win in the opener.  The Gray Wolves needed extra innings in game two to score a 7-6 win in 10.  On Sunday, Lourdes plated three in the seventh to win game one 5-3 before completing the sweep with a 7-3 triumph.

Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints enter the week having dropped four consecutive games, including three at Concordia (Mich.) last weekend.  Siena Heights plays the final game of the series with the Cardinals on Tuesday before visiting Lourdes.  Kenny Layman is hitting a team-leading .385 with two home runs and 14 runs batted in.  As a team, the Saints are batting .290 while the pitching staff sports an 8.31 earned run average with opponents hitting .327 against them.

Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals enter the week having won 14 straight games after taking three from Siena Heights over the weekend.  Concordia hosts Siena Heights for the final game of the series on Tuesday before hosting Lourdes over the weekend.  Caleb Harmond is hitting .435 to pace the Cardinal offense while Drew Fleming has hit seven home runs and has 31 RBI.  As a team, Concordia is batting .325 while the pitching staff sports a 3.15 ERA with opponents batting .218 against them.

Quite the Scoring Output: The 24 runs the Gray Wolves scored in the opener of the series with Rochester (Mich.) on Friday were the third most in a game in program history.  The output ranks only behind the 33 runs scored against Grace Christian on March 24, 2022 and the 27 runs scored in a win against Goshen on April 6.

Raking at the Plate: Joel Suraganan and Steve Haugh are both hitting north of .400 through the first 19 games of the season.  Suraganan leads the Gray Wolves with a .418 average and a team-high three home runs while Haugh is hitting at a .414 clip with a team-high 24 runs batted in.  Haugh also has 16 walks for a .549 on base percentage.

Getting on Base: Steve Haugh has reached safely in all 19 games this season.  Josh Hare enters the week with a 15-game on base streak while Ryan Jagodzinski has reached base safely in his last 12 games.

Mainstays in the Lineup: Through the first 19 games of the season, only Steve Haugh and Ryan Jagodzinski have started all 19 contests for the Gray Wolves.  Joel Suraganan, Josh Hare, and Harrison Jackson have each been penciled into the lineup card 17 times.

Coming Out of the Bullpen: Austin Ford has pitched in a team-high seven games out of the bullpen thus far in 2023 for the Gray Wolves.  He has recorded a pair of wins and a save in his 10.1 innings of work this season.

Gray Wolves Tabbed Eighth in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was picked to finish eighth in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference in the 2023 preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  The Gray Wolves were slotted just behind Cornerstone and just ahead of Aquinas.  Northwestern Ohio was tabbed as the preseason favorite.

This and That: Harrison Jackson has stolen a team-leading four bases this season ... Wyatt Smith leads the pitching staff with 24 innings logged, striking out 20 ... Lourdes is 2-2 this season against teams in the NAIA top-25 poll ... the Gray Wolves' March 30 scheduled doubleheader at IUPUC has been cancelled due to field conflicts in Columbus, Ind.
