Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Lourdes plays the first of back-to-back games against NAIA top-10 foes on Saturday afternoon. The Gray Wolves take to the road to face fifth-ranked Indiana Tech looking to bounce back from a triple-overtime setback last Saturday.
Head Coach Patrick Yannarelli: In his 10th season on the Lourdes bench,
Patrick Yannarelli has a 80-45 (.640) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. Yannarelli was named the NAIA National Coach of the Year in 2016. He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Indiana Tech leads the all-time series against Lourdes 7-2 dating back to March 23, 2016. The Warriors have won the last seven meetings between the two schools after Indiana Tech posted a 20-5 victory over the Gray Wolves at Wildcat Stadium last season. Indiana Tech is 4-0 against Lourdes in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Wrapping Up Last Week: A Caden Louthen goal with 9:19 to play in the fourth quarter proved to be the decisive tally last Wednesday as the Gray Wolves defeated Michigan-Dearborn 9-8 at home.
Ben Reidy scored five times while
Jack Bichsel made 17 saves for Lourdes. On Saturday, Madonna scored with 13 seconds remaining in the third overtime to defeat the Gray Wolves 13-12. Reidy had his second straight five-goal game while Bichsel made 19 saves in the cage for Lourdes.
Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the week following a 26-3 victory over Taylor last Wednesday. Indiana Tech travels to Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes. Nate Langille has a team-leading 39 points for the Warriors, including 21 assists. Aran Heath has scored a team-high 22 goals. In the cage, Kyle Twobulls has posted a 7.32 goals against average and a .578 save percentage this season.
Longest Game in Program History: The triple-overtime contest against Madonna was just the second multi-overtime game Lourdes has played in program history, and the longest ever by a Gray Wolf team. Lourdes and Madonna played a double-overtime game on April 17, 2019, with the Crusaders also winning that contest by the same 13-12 margin, the last time a Gray Wolf team played a game beyond 60 minutes. All-time, Lourdes is 3-5 in overtime games.
Scoring Machines: Lourdes has three players that have tallied 25 or more points and scored 16 or more goals this season.
Nick Johnson leads the team with 19 goals while totalling 27 points.
Brock Meomartino has added 18 goals and a team-high 10 assists for 28 points, most on the team.
Ben Reidy has added 16 goals and 25 points after scoring 10 goals over his last two games.
Solid in Goal: Jack Bichsel has played all but eight minutes between the posts for the Gray Wolves this season, sporting a 7.18 goals against average and a .611 save percentage. He made 19 saves in the triple-overtime contest against Madonna.
On the Scoring Lists: Nick Johnson has passed Cory Campbell (2017-2021) for fourth all-time at Lourdes with 136 career points. Johnson surpassed 100 career goals and now has 101, also fourth most in program history while his 35 career assists tie him for seventh.
Picking Up Ground Balls: Jack Durham leads the Gray Wolves with 37 ground balls this season.
Ryan Shaffer has 27 ground balls this season while
Nick Johnson is the team's active career leader with 121, ranking seventh on the all-time list.
