Match #5: Wednesday, September 13, 6:30 p.m. EDT
at Point Park (3-2, 0-0 RSC)
Montour Junction Sports Complex - Coraoplis, Pa.

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: A three-match road trip begins for Lourdes on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves head to Pennsylvania to battle Point Park.  The road trip begins a stretch in which the Gray Wolves will play six of their next eight contests away from Wildcat Stadium.

Head Coach Matt Johnson: Matt Johnson took over as the second head coach in program's history prior to the 2019 season.  Johnson sports a 105-123-16 (.462) record overall in his 13th season as a men's collegiate soccer coach and has a 30-39-8 (.442) mark in his third year at Lourdes.

Series Notes: Lourdes is 3-0 all-time against Point Park in a series that dates back to Sept. 12, 2020.  The Gray Wolves defeated the Pioneers 2-1 at Wildcat Stadium last season.  Lourdes won the only previous meeting on Point Park's home field 3-2 in the first match-up between the two schools in 2020.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Rolando Benitez scored 8:46 into the match on Wednesday but Holy Cross (Ind.) found the equalizer with 10:20 to play in the contest as the Gray Wolves and Saints battled to a 1-1 draw in Notre Dame, Ind.  Yianni Kanellopoulos made three saves in net for the Gray Wolves in their second straight tie.  On Saturday, Huntington scored the lone goal of the match in the 32nd minute as the Foresters defeated Lourdes 1-0 at Wildcat Stadium.  Alex Brock made a pair of stops between the posts for the Gray Wolves.

Scouting Point Park: The Pioneers have dropped two straight matches, but have been idle since a Sept. 3 setback at Warner 2-1.  Philipp Harder has already scored six times for Point Park in the first five matches and leads the team with 13 total points.  Jaume Genovard has added a pair of goals and leads Point Park with two assists for six total points.  In goal, Eduard Garcia has played all 450 minutes, sporting a 2.00 goals against average and a .583 save percentage.

Benitez Breaks Through: After 188:46 of soccer this season, Rolando Benitez finally put Lourdes on the scoreboard with his goal at Holy Cross (Ind.) last Wednesday.  For the junior, it marked his first collegiate goal and first points as a Gray Wolf.

Handing Out Helpers: Hussein Sbeiti garnered the assist on Rolando Benitez's goal last week, the eighth helper of his career.  Sbeiti moved into a tie with Savio Adams (2018, 2020-21) for fifth on the Gray Wolves' career assist list.  Sbeiti also moved into a tie with Anthony Samuel (2020-2022) on the program's career points list with his 24th.

Looking for the Back of the Net: Lourdes has had plenty of chances thus far this season, outshooting opponents 57-46 overall, but has only been able to find the back of the net once. Martin Coronel leads the Gray Wolves with 15 total shot attempts, seven of which are on goal.

Lourdes Debut: Dylan Lynam made his first appearance as a Gray Wolf at Holy Cross (Ind.) last Wednesday.  Rodolfo Ruiz and Yianni Kanellopoulos both saw their first action of the season for Lourdes as well in the match against the Saints.

In the Record Books: Diego Pereira is tied with Brendon Long (2018-2020) for eighth all-time at Lourdes with nine career goals.  They trail Reece Riccardi (2016-2019) by just one goal for seventh on the all-time charts.  Pereira is also ninth on the school's all-time points list with 22, trailing Riccardi by one.

More Top Performances: Hussein Sbeiti is also ranked in the top-10 in scoring for the Gray Wolves.  He is tied with Haggi Amirally (2016-2017) for 10th with eight career goals while his eight assists are tied with Savio Adams (2018, 2020-21) for sixth on that chart.  Sbeiti's 24 career points match Anthony Samuel's (2020-2022) total which ranks sixth all-time at Lourdes.

Lots of Appearances: Hussein Sbeiti has moved into seventh place all-time at Lourdes with 53 career appearances on the pitch.  He is tied with Farouk Amoo (2018-2021) and trails Reece Riccardi (2016-2019) by four appearances for sixth on the all-time list.  Sbeiti has started 35 career contests, needing three more starts to crack the top-10.

Brock Solid in Goal: Alex Brock has recorded three career shutouts and ranks fourth in program history for career clean sheets.  His 1440 minutes in goal rank fourth all-time at Lourdes as do his 60 saves.  He needs three more stops to move into a tie with Igor Silva (2020-2022) for third on the school's all-time saves list.

Gray Wolves Tabbed Sixth in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was selected to finish in sixth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  The Gray Wolves were picked just behind fifth place Lawrence Tech.  Madonna was selected to win the league crown.
