Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: After two cancelations last weekend, Lourdes will again try to open the 11th season of intercollegiate lacrosse on the road with a pair of games.  Lourdes will now begin the season on Saturday visiting Alma before traveling to Mount Vernon Nazarene on Monday afternoon.

Head Coach Will Lowe: In his first season on the Lourdes bench, Will Lowe has a 0-0 (.000) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  Lowe is in his fifth season as a collegiate head coach, sporting a 22-23 (.489) career mark.  He is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is meeting Alma for the first time ever on Saturday.  The Gray Wolves are 2-0 against Mount Vernon Nazarene in a series that began March 4, 2021.  The Gray Wolves won the most recent meeting, 14-7, on March 23, 2022 in their only other trip to Mount Vernon, Ohio.

Wrapping Up Last Season: The Gray Wolves finished the 2023 season with a 6-7 record overall and a 1-7 mark in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action.  The Gray Wolves finished in eighth place in the final league standings.

Scouting Alma: The Scots are coming off a 10-8 loss at Franciscan last Saturday and looking for their first win in 2024.  Nico Candela leads Alma with six points on five goals and an assist while Lucas Storm also has five goals.  Kevin Koenn has a team-high two assists.  In goal, Thomas Burns sports a 14.00 goals against average and a .481 save percentage, playing all 120 minutes this year.

Scouting Mount Vernon Nazarene: The Cougars remained undefeated on the year with a 9-6 win over Montreat last Saturday.  Brett Townsend has 16 points already this season, including a team-high 12 assists.  Jonathan Hall and Caleb Sanford have each scored six times for Mount Vernon Nazarene.  In the cage, Alex Mar has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 5.09 goals against average and a .600 save percentage.

Lourdes in Season Openers: Lourdes is 10-0 all-time in home openers after defeating Saint Andrews 8-6 to begin last season.  The Gray Wolves are 7-0 when starting the season on the road.  

New Faces in Goal: Whoever takes their spot in the cage for the season opener will be making their collegiate debut.  Goalkeepers Xander Slate, Zach Gibson, and Tim Weaver are all looking to take over the goalkeeping duties this year.

Returning Scoring Leaders: Caden Louthan and Garrett Boersma are the Gray Wolves' top returning scorer from last season.  Louthan found the back of the net 15 times and handed out 12 assists for 27 points while Boersma added nine goals and five helpers.  Louthan has 41 career goals, needing 12 more to move into the top-10 on Lourdes all-time goal-scoring list.

New Faces: Lourdes has four new faces this season that are set to make their collegiate debuts for the Gray Wolves.  Gavin Conley, Zach Gibson, Mario Manzardo, and Tim Weaver are all looking for their first college action.

Lourdes Tabbed Ninth in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was picked to finish ninth in this season's preseason coaches' poll.  The Gray Wolves were picked to finish just behind Taylor and Michigan-Dearborn in the balloting.  Indiana Tech is the preseason favorite.

This and That: Lourdes is 80-50 all-time beginning its 11th season of men's lacrosse ... the Gray Wolves are 38-28 all-time in true road games and 10-7 at neutral sites ... Lourdes is 3-6 all-time in overtime contests, last playing on April 1, 2023, a triple-overtime loss to Madonna ... the current six-game losing skid dating back to last season is the longest such streak in program history.
