Upcoming in Gray Wolves Baseball: The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference schedule begins this week for Lourdes University.  The Gray Wolves open conference play on Saturday at Rochester (Mich.).  Lourdes then returns to Mercy Field for its home opener on Sunday as the Gray Wolves play host to Concordia (Mich.).

Head Coach Josh Bradford: In his fifth season in the Lourdes dugout, Josh Bradford has a 71-91 (.438) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves, as well as in his career as a collegiate head coach.  He is the third head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Probable Starters: Wyatt Smith (RHP, 0-2, 8.71) will be handed the baseball to open WHAC play for the Gray Wolves on Saturday in game one while Caleb Loboschefski (RHP, 0-0, 4.76) will toe the rubber in game two at Rochester (Mich.).  On Sunday, Brenden Holland (LHP, 0-2, 9.45) will pitch the opener of the twinbill against Concordia (Mich.) while Bryn Biemiller (RHP, 0-1, 6.00) will climb the mound for the nightcap. 

Series Notes: Lourdes leads the all-time series against Rochester (Mich.) 20-8 dating back to March 18, 2012.  The Gray Wolves have won the last six games between the two schools and 18 of their last 19 overall after sweeping a four-game series against the Warriors in 2023.  Lourdes posted wins of 24-5, 7-6 (10 innings), 5-3, and 7-3.  The Gray Wolves are 9-2 in the series in Rochester Hills, Mich.  Concordia (Mich.) is 27-11-1 all-time against Lourdes in a series that began April 13, 2012.  The Cardinals have won the last four games against Lourdes and eight of the last nine overall after sweeping a four-game series in 2023.  Concordia won games by the score of 2-0, 10-1, 11-2, and 11-1.  The Cardinals lead the series 13-4 at Mercy Field.

Wrapping Up Recent Action: Lourdes dropped a non-conference doubleheader at Siena Heights on Tuesday by scores of 8-4 and 9-3.  Alex Dupree had two RBI in the opener while Caleb Edwards-Dugan went 3-for-4 with a home run in game two.  Joel Suraganan also had two hits in the nightcap while also driving in a pair of runs.

Scouting Rochester (Mich.): The Warriors enter WHAC play having dropped two straight games after falling 20-4 to Oakland on Tuesday afternoon.  Reese Ungvarsky leads Rochester batting .382 this season while Jack LaRue has homered four times with 13 runs batted in.  Raymond Perez III has a team-leading 18 RBI.  On the mound, Matthew Redmond is 0-1 with a 3.14 ERA in 14.1 innings of work while Ryan Polega has a team-high three wins and 25 strikeouts.

Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals enter WHAC play following a 6-5 setback at home against Goshen on Tuesday afternoon.  Concordia will host Siena Heights on Saturday before traveling to Lourdes.  Logan Hylek is hitting a team-leading .423 with 14 runs batted in for the Cardinals while Drew Fleming is hitting .404 with four homer runs and a team-high 19 RBI.  Josh Burke has also homered four times this season.  On the mound, Trey Acker is 2-0 with a 0.69 earned run average in 13 innings of work while Kenneth Rozmys is 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA and a team-high 13 strikeouts.

Lourdes in WHAC Openers: Lourdes is 3-8 all-time in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference openers.  The Gray Wolves have won each of their last two league openers after defeating Indiana Tech 9-8 to begin conference play in 2023.  Lourdes also downed Aquinas in their first WHAC game during the 2024 season.

Home Openers: Lourdes is 7-4 all-time in home openers.  The Gray Wolves have won their first game at Mercy Field in five straight seasons after defeating Indiana Tech 9-8 to open last year's home slate.  Lourdes did not play any home contests in the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season.

Solid Debut: Alex Dupree had a strong showing in his collegiate debut for the Gray Wolves.  The freshman has a team-leading 10 hits this season, including a pair of doubles.  In addition, he is tied for the team lead with five runs batted in and has drawn eight walks, giving him a .486 on base percentage.  Dupree also has four of the Gray Wolves' eight stolen bases on the year.  He has also been flawless in the field, handling all 52 of his chances without an error.

Getting on Base: Caleb Edwards-Dugan has reached base safely in all eight games in which he has appeared this season.  He is second on the team batting .292 and has a .414 on base percentage after drawing four walks and being hit by a pitch.

Gray Wolves Tabbed Eighth in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was picked to finish eighth in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference in the 2024 preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  The Gray Wolves were slotted just behind Cleary and just ahead of Cornerstone.  Concordia (Mich.) was tabbed as the preseason favorite by a unanimous vote.

This and That: Lourdes is 87-132 all-time at Mercy Field ... the Gray Wolves fell to 21-17 all-time in extra innings after the eight-inning setback at Indiana-Kokomo ... only Alex Dupree and Joel Suraganan have started all 10 games for Lourdes this season ... A.J. Brinson is the only other Gray Wolf to appear in all 10 games.
