Series Notes: Cornerstone leads the all-time series against Lourdes 16-13 dating back to April 5, 2013.  Last season, the two schools split a doubleheader at Mercy Field.  The Gray Wolves won the opener 12-1 before the Golden Eagles took the nightcap 8-7.  Cornerstone holds an 8-6 all-time advantage against Lourdes in games played at Mercy Field.

Wrapping Up Recent Action: Lourdes dropped a non-conference doubleheader at Siena Heights last Tuesday by scores of 8-4 and 9-3.  Alex Dupree had two RBI in the opener while Caleb Edwards-Dugan went 3-for-4 with a home run in game two.  Joel Suraganan also had two hits in the nightcap while also driving in a pair of runs.  On Saturday, the Gray Wolves opened WHAC play sweeping a doubleheader at Rochester (Mich.) 4-3 and 8-1.  Skylar Mays drove in two runs in the opener as Avery Harper earned the win in relief.  In game two, Mays went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Caleb Loboschefski tossed six innings of scoreless relief.  In Sunday's home opener, Concordia (Mich.) took the opener 11-6 despite Cord Noble's four RBI for the Gray Wolves.  Lourdes rebounded in game two with a 7-6 win as Christian Mays delivered the walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles enter the weekend series having dropped five straight games after being swept in a doubleheader by Northwestern Ohio at home last weekend.  Andrew Meny leads the offense batting .381 on the season while Drew Goodman is hitting at a .354 clip.  Matthew Kindley has hit a team-high two home runs while JC Salinas has 18 runs batted in.  On the mound, Lucas Vega is 2-1 with a 2.89 earned run average in 18 innings of work.    He has struck out a team-high 22 hitters.

Lengthy Homestand: After playing its first 12 games of the season on the road, Lourdes returned to Mercy Field last Sunday for the first time in 2024.  The Gray Wolves are now in the midst of their longest homestand of the season, 10 games, running through March 29.  Following the homestand, Lourdes will have just 10 games remaining at Mercy Field the remainder of the season.

Impressive Freshman: Alex Dupree has made the most of his collegiate debut for the Gray Wolves.  The freshman has a team-leading 15 hits this season, including three doubles which ties for the team lead.  He is the only Gray Wolf hitting over .300, entering the weekend at .341.  In addition, he is second on the team lead with seven runs batted in and has drawn 11 walks, giving him a .473 on base percentage.  Dupree also has a team-high four stolen bases.  Defensively,  he has also been flawless in the field, handling all 83 of his chances without an error.

Leading the Pitching Staff: Caleb Loboschefski has been stellar in his three appearances this season.  He is 1-0 with a 2.31 earned run average in 11.2 innings of work.  Last week in two outings he did not allow a run over seven innings.  The redshirt-sophomore has struck out 14 hitters and limited opponents to just a .158 average, yielding just six hits.

Getting on Base: Caleb Edwards-Dugan has reached base safely in all 12 games in which he has appeared this season.  He is batting .257 and but he has a .435 on base percentage after drawing 10 walks and being hit by a pitch.

More Streaking: Joel Suraganan enters the series against Cornerstone having hit safely in each of his last seven games.  Since the second game of the doubleheader at Bethel (Tenn.) to conclude the spring trip on March 7, the senior infielder leads the team with 10 hits during the span and is batting .345 for the duration of the hitting streak.

Gray Wolves Tabbed Eighth in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was picked to finish eighth in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference in the 2024 preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  The Gray Wolves were slotted just behind Cleary and just ahead of Cornerstone.  Concordia (Mich.) was tabbed as the preseason favorite by a unanimous vote.

This and That: Only Alex Dupree and Joel Suraganan have started all 14 games for Lourdes this season ... A.J. Brinson is the only other Gray Wolf to appear in all 14 games ... Jase Kennedy has been hit by a pitch four times already this season ... Riley McKinnon earned his first victory as a Gray Wolf on the mound against Concordia (Mich.) ...
