Upcoming in Gray Wolves Lacrosse: Lourdes returns home on Saturday afternoon in search of its first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference victory of the season. The Gray Wolves entertain Indiana Tech in a game that will take place at Ottawa Hills High School.
Head Coach Will Lowe: In his first season on the Lourdes bench,
Will Lowe has a 3-4 (.429) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. Lowe is in his fifth season as a collegiate head coach, sporting a 25-27 (.481) career mark. He is only the second head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Indiana Tech leads the all-time series against Lourdes 8-2 dating back to March 23, 2016. The Warriors have won the last eight meetings between the two schools after posting a 20-7 victory in Fort Wayne, Ind. last season. The series is tied 2-2 on the Gray Wolves' home field.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Michigan-Dearborn scored the first three goals of the fourth quarter to break open a tie game last Wednesday as the Wolverines defeated the Gray Wolves 12-9.
Kalani Hale had two goals for Lourdes while
Xander Slate made 10 saves in goal. On Saturday, Madonna used a 9-0 run to take control in a 17-7 win over Lourdes.
Caden Louthan and
Hayden Barber each tallied a pair of goals for the Gray Wolves while Slate made 11 saves in the cage.
Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors have won back-to-back games after a 24-9 victory over Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday. Devin Macomber leads Indiana Tech with 26 goals this season while Nate Langille has a team-leading 20 assists and 37 total points. Josh Bramley has also scored 20 times for the Warriors. In the cage, Kyle Twobulls has played nearly every minute, sporting a 14.13 goals against average and a .486 save percentage.
Leading the Offense: Kalani Hale and
Caden Louthan have paced the offense thus far this season. Louthan has a team-leading 25 total points, including a team-best 11 assists. Hale has scored a team-high 20 goals and has 24 total points.
Hayden Barber is also in double figures in the scoring column, having found the back of the cage 10 times while dishing out seven assists for 17 total points.
Winning Faceoffs: Dique Reid has led the way at the X for the Gray Wolves. He has won 69 of the 101 (68.3%) faceoffs in which he has taken. Gasper Ferraro has also taken 60 faceoffs and has been successful more than 50% of the time. Ferraro is coming of a game in which he won 16-of-28 for Lourdes at Madonna.
Picking Up Ground Balls: Dique Reid has led Lourdes with 41 ground balls this season while
Jack Durham has collected 30 this year.
Hayden Barber has also scooped up 28 ground balls on the year.
Moving Onto the All-Time Lists: Caden Louthan has moved into 10th place on the Gray Wolves' career points and goals list. He enters the weekend with 85 career points, trailing Casey Hilfinger (2015-2018) by five for ninth on the all-time charts. Louthan's 55 goals are two behind Tyler Pezzot (2018-2022) for ninth on that list as well.
Slate a Mainstay in Goal: Xander Slate seen nearly all of the action for the Gray Wolves in goal in his first season between the posts. He has played all but 27 minutes for Lourdes, sporting a 10.37 goals against average and a .493 save percentage. He has made 66 saves over his seven games.
Lourdes Tabbed Ninth in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was picked to finish ninth in this season's preseason coaches' poll. The Gray Wolves were picked to finish just behind Taylor and Michigan-Dearborn in the balloting. Indiana Tech is the preseason favorite.
