ANGOLA, Ind. (LourdesAthletics.com) – Despite a last-minute schedule adjustment to avoid the heat, the Lourdes University women's golf team battled scorching temperatures to open the 2024 fall season at the Trine University Fall Kick-Off Classic held at Zollner Golf Club in Angola, Ind.
The host Thunder [A] claimed the top spot with a round of 320, finishing nine shots ahead of second-place Indiana University-East, while Trine's [B] Team secured third place with a score of 340.
Other competitors included Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference teams Cleary University, Defiance College, Rochester Christian University, and Siena Heights University, along with Indiana East, Grace College, the University of Olivet, and the University of Rio Grande.
Lourdes, along with two other schools, did not post a team score.
Graduate student Emma Mulder led the Gray Wolves, tying for 14th place among 63 individuals with a round of 85 in her final season opener.
Sophomore Elyse Czarnik recorded a 98 to tie for 41st on the 6,384-yard, par-72 course, while senior Sydney Shank shot a 99, placing 45th. Additionally, sophomore Allison Knicely finished tied for 50th, carding a 106.
The Gray Wolves will return to action on Saturday, Aug. 31, at the UNOH Invite hosted by the University of Northwestern Ohio. The women will tee off at 8:30 a.m. at The Hidden Creek Golf Club.
