Box Score Lourdes men's soccer continued its strong start to the 2025 campaign Saturday afternoon, downing Indiana Northwest 2-1 at Wildcat Stadium behind another multi-goal performance from senior forward
Jannik Hofmann (Bremen, Germany).
Hofmann put the Gray Wolves on the board in the 23rd minute, finishing off a feed from
Zack Meunier-Gorman (Sylvania, Ohio) for his third goal of the young season. After the RedHawks equalized in the 59th, Hofmann delivered the match-winner in the 80th minute off a setup by
Murilo Lima (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).
The brace gives Hofmann five goals through three matches, building on his game-winner against Huntington earlier this week and his equalizer at Olivet Nazarene in the season opener. He has now scored in every contest this year.
Defensively, senior goalkeeper
Andre Chavez (Detroit, Mich.) earned his first career win in net, stopping the only shot on frame he faced in the second half. Lourdes controlled much of the run of play, outshooting IUNW 18-6 and holding a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.
"Our level of energy didn't drop, which forced them to change their strategy," head coach
Matt Johnson said. "The pressure from our back line and the aces on the wings kept their attack uncomfortable. Passing and our ability to connect through the midfield made the difference in just our second home match."
The win moves Lourdes to 2-1 on the season, already matching last year's win total through the opening week. Hofmann's five goals lead the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, while Meunier-Gorman and Lima have now combined for three assists across the first three matches.
Lourdes (2-1) returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 3, hosting Indiana University East at 6 p.m. inside Wildcat Stadium.
