Lourdes Women's Volleyball Wins On Senior Day

Box Score It was Senior Day on Saturday afternoon as the Lourdes women's volleyball team took on the Eagles of Robert Morris University in the Tam-O-Shanter. The match wrapped up the home part of the season for the Gray Wolves. Amanda Drew, Hannah Thompson, Jordan Kerr and Brooke Hearn were all recognized for their effort and years of service to the University and team.

The first set was a gritty battle between two evenly matched teams as each team would battle back and forth for the lead. The Gray Wolves would go up by four points at 13-9. The Eagles would battle back though as they would tie things up at 19 apiece mainly due to the play of 6'3” Sophomore Kimberly Smith as she would dominate at the net for the Eagles with five kills on nine attempts.  The Gray Wolves would take the set winning 25-23. The Gray Wolves had 15 kills to the Eagles 18 in the set. Rallies were common throughout the set as the Eagles would end up with 56 total attacking attempts to Lourdes University 55.

The Gray Wolves would win the second set 25-23. The set opened up with both teams battling for each point back and forth. As the set would progress though the Gray Wolves would lead 22-17 before holding on to get the victory. Robert Morris would lead in most categories in the set except for the score. The Eagles had 52 total attacking attempts to 48, 13 kills to 8.

The Gray Wolves won the third set 25-23. The battle would be fierce just like in the first two sets with both teams trading point for point but the Gray Wolves trailed 21-23 before rallying to get the set and match victory.

The next matchup will be Wednesday the 26th at Lima, OH against UNOH.
