Box Score Lourdes University Women's Volleyball team came up empty in their upset bid against the #9 ranked team in NAIA in the Warriors from Indiana Tech on Wednesday night in three sets as they lost 25-14, 25-13 and 25-19.
Set one started strong for the Gray Wolves behind the serving of
Hannah Thompson as the Gray Wolves jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the set before the Warriors of Indiana Tech started to awaken. The Warriors would run off five straight points behind timely hitting and strong net play. The Warriors would take the set 25-14 and finish with 15 kills to the Gray Wolves 7. Errors would plague the Gray Wolves in the first set as they would have six to the Warriors three. Indiana Tech also led with 29 total attempts to Lourdes 23.
Set two would see the Warriors jump out quick as they would lead early on 9-3 before Coach
Greg Reitz called a timeout to regroup. The timeout would help as the Gray Wolves would respond with a pair of points but would eventually drop the set 25-13. The Gray Wolves played tough but just couldn't capitalize on chances. Each team finished the set with 31 chances but once again it was the net that hurt Lourdes as the Warriors would finish with 15 kills to the Gray Wolves seven.
Set three would be the final set as the Warriors would not be denied a straight set victory as they won 25-19 Lourdes jumped out early in the set just like they did in the first but the Warriors regrouped and put the throttle down.
Lourdes will back on the court this Friday night as they take on Aquinas College. The game will be played at the Southview High School in Sylvania, OH. First serve will be at 7pm.
